Nottingham Forest have some injury issues going into their game against Ipswich this weekend.

Nottingham Forest have suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time this season, and they will have been disappointed with how they fell apart against Newcastle and their response against Arsenal. Indeed, we identified a key defensive flaw that could undermine their impressive early push for Europe.

However, it speaks volumes that, even after these consecutive defeats, they remain seventh in the league, above the likes of Newcastle and Aston Villa.

A win this weekend, combined with other results going their way, could take them back into fourth place. This weekend will be a true test of how strong their season has been and how well they can react to adversity. Ahead of the game, here is a list of their injured players and their expected return dates.

Danilo dos Santos de Oliveira

Danilo picked up an ankle injury and, unfortunately, won't be available for a while, as confirmed by the manager in his press conference: "Unfortunately, Ibrahim Sangaré and Danilo are out for a while." He is expected to return early next year, which will be a boost to their campaign. While Forest are largely well covered at the back, a January move for one Chelsea outcast could prove an advantageous deal.

Elliot Anderson

Anderson’s issues began when he picked up a knock against Chelsea and tried to play through it. It was later revealed that he had sustained more damage and missed some games. However, he is now on the road to recovery, and there is a chance he could be available this weekend.Manager Nuno Espírito Santo said: “Morgan had a nasty injury against Chelsea (GW7). He and Elliot made a big effort to help the team, and they did that. However, neither of them were in the right condition to help the team this week. Hopefully, they’ll be ready for the next one.”

Morgan Gibbs-White

It’s amazing how well Forest have performed without Gibbs-White, considering he is clearly one of their most important players. He’s been committed from day one, and it’s just unfortunate that he picked up an injury against Chelsea. The good news is he’s on his way back and gradually improving.

Even Nuno acknowledged the injury setback but also confirmed progress: “He’s not in the right moment. We’ve been taking care of him since the knock in the Chelsea game. He’s been trying hard, but he’s not in a position to help the team today.”

Anthony Elanga

It’s unclear exactly what Elanga’s injury is, but from what the manager has said, it will take time. Nuno explained that even he wasn’t sure of the full extent of the injury yet: "He is in a lot of pain. We have to wait for the scan. I don’t know what it is exactly, but he was not able to continue."

Sangaré has suffered a significant thigh injury and is unlikely to return to action for a while.
