The January transfer window is approaching its midway point and the speculation is ramping up as clubs around the Premier League and EFL continue to rejig their squads.

3AddedMinutes takes a light-hearted stroll through some of the latest transfer lines across the media over the last 24 hours.

Man Utd could blow budget on explosive star

To suggest Manchester United are on fire at the moment may be overplaying it a bit - but there is no doubt Erik ten Hag’s methods are starting to make an impact at Old Trafford.

After picking up three goal contributions from defence in the World Cup, Dumfries has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League. After picking up three goal contributions from defence in the World Cup, Dumfries has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.
After picking up three goal contributions from defence in the World Cup, Dumfries has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.

Now, in his first January transfer window since his appointment, the former Ajax manager is reportedly keen to blow a large chunk of his budget on a full-back described as explosive after his performances for club and country in recent years.

Italian outlet Gazetta dello Sport, made famous on English shores by Channel Four’s Serie A coverage of the 1990s, has stated the Red Devils have been offer the chance to sign Inter Milan’s Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries during the summer transfer window.

However, with reports stating the 13-time Premier League champions wish to complete an earlier move, Inter are said to be demanding an eye-watering fee of £52m before they will allow Dumfries to depart this month. The report suggests the Red Devils are long-term admirers of the former PSV Eindhoven defender and believe he will provide stern competition for Diogo Dalot, who seems to have fought off competition from Aaron Wan-Bissaka to make the right-back spot his own.

Taking it Azeez-y after a trip to Ibiza

We’ve all felt that holiday comedown, when memories of sun, sand and sea evaporate into the grey skies, wind and rain in Britain.

Well, spare a thought for Arsenal midfielder Miguel Azeez. The Gunners youngster secured what many would feel is something of a dream loan move after he joined Spanish second-tier side UD Ibiza earlier this season.

Azeez made 12 appearances during his time on the Balearic Island, but has now returned to England and will spend the remainder of the campaign with Wigan Athletic after completing a half-season loan move to the DW Stadium on Tuesday.

Now, Wigan has its charm, but the sunny skies and sandy beaches of Ibiza it is not.

A gold run for struggling Southampton

French outlet FootMercato have revealed Southampton are ‘the front-runners’ to sign Rennes winger Jeremy Doku and have been told they will have to pay ‘gold prices’ of around £23.3m to sign the Belgian star.

The report states the Saints have made an enquiry for the winger and suggests Doku ‘has still not managed to convince’ during his time with Rennes. There may be some foundation to that analysis given the winger scored his first goal in over a year and only his fifth since joining Rennes in their round of 64 win at Bordeaux on Saturday.

Speaking after the game, Rennes coach Bruno Genesio said of Doku: “He is a boy who, I remind him, is still very young and who still needs to train, with the accumulation of matches, he will inevitably have more playing time, which will allow him to regain more and more sensations.”

Whether he would be sensational with the Saints remains to be seen.
