Ipswich will take on Leicester this weekend but manager Kieran McKenna is facing an injury crisis.

Five points separate Ipswich and Leicester, but Kieran McKenna's side hopes to secure their first win when they take on their fellow Premier League promoters. However, they are facing something of an injury crisis, with as many as nine players doubtful for the game this weekend.

Games at Portman Road have been very entertaining, and at the start of the season, this match was likely one they were targeting, especially given that Leicester was also in the Championship last season.

Ahead of what should be a closely contested game, below is the list of injured Ipswich players and their potential return dates.

Axel Tuanzebe

The Tractor Boys have missed the experience of the former Manchester United man. McKenna admitted he would return after the next international break.

He said: “The timeframe for Axel is still rough, to be honest. He won’t be back before the next international break. We’re still looking at what type of cast can be fitted and when it would be suitable. It won’t be before Tottenham.”

Potential return: End of November

Massimo Luongo

The Australian defensive midfielder has had a strong start to life in the Premier League but picked up an injury against Aston Villa and will not return until after the November international break.

McKenna said: “Massimo picked up an injury against Aston Villa, so he’s also unavailable for this game and probably the next period of games.”

Potential return: End of November

Jack Taylor

Another big loss for the Tractor Boys, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, with the boss admitting he could be back in a couple of weeks.

He said: “Jack will be out until at least after the international break.”

Potential return: November 2024

Jacob Greaves

He hasn’t played since the West Ham game but was back in training and is likely to return this weekend.

Benjamin Johnson

He has missed the last two games due to what the manager says is a minor thigh injury but is in line to return this weekend.

McKenna said: “Ben is still out with a small thigh injury. There was a possibility he could have made it for this weekend, but he's not been able to. We'll have to see how he is next week.”

Potential return: This weekend

Omari Giraud-Hutchinson

He missed the last game due to illness but has been back in training and could start.

Potential return: This weekend

Samy Morsy

Another player likely to return this weekend after missing the last few weeks.

McKenna said: “We don't know with Samy. That's not quite as significant as Jack Taylor’s injury, but there's going to be a big question mark around next week.”

Potential return: This weekend

Janoi Donacien

Janoi has a long-term injury and won’t be back until the turn of the year.

Potential return: January 2025

Chiedozie Ogbene

The winger won’t be back until 2025 after tearing his Achilles. McKenna confirmed he is a long-term absentee.

He said: “It's a bad one. We think he's torn his Achilles. We'll need to see, but he's going to be out for a period of time.”

Potential return: June 2025
