The preparations for the World Cup Finals rarely change. Keeping an eye out for the sticker albums and making sure you’ve got enough to fill it. The wallcharts that will help you monitor the tournament. Planning those all-important barbecues and nights in the pub watching the game along friends and family - although any outdoor viewing may be limited as we prepare for the first ever winter finals.
Of course, another key aspect of the buildup is the release of those all-important England kits as we wait to see how the Three Lions will look throughout the tournament. It’s safe to say their have been some iconic home, away and third kits worn by England heroes during the years and we thought it would be ideal preparation for this year’s World Cup Finals in Qatar by looking back at some of the best kits worn by the likes of Bobby Moore, Gary Lineker and David Beckham in tournaments gone by.
This is our ranking of England’s top ten World Cup kits, from bottom to top:

1. 1998 (France)
Michael Owen’s breakthrough tournament, David Beckham’s red card and a(nother) heartbreaking exit at the hands of Argentina. A slight change from Umbro in this kit from their Euro 96 effort. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

2. 2010 (South Africa)
An image to sum up a tournament as England sneaked through the group containing the USA, Slovenia and Algeria before being battered by Germany in the round of 16. They looked decent in their abysmal performance with a neat effort from Umbro once again. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

3. 2018 (Russia)
Another change kit and it has to be said England always look better when their change kit is red. 2018 brought a run to the semi-finals and this was worn during an impressively comfortable win against Sweden. | AFP via Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

4. 1966 (England)
Because of their final win, England’s 1966 World Cup Finals is always remembered for their red change kit worn against West Germany. But their home shirt was a simple and beautiful effort. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images
