England predicted line-up vs. Belgium: nine major changes made as Man Utd, Everton, and Spurs stars all start

Well, Saturday night didn't exactly go to plan. England hosted Brazil at Wembley over the weekend, and drifted to a 1-0 defeat beneath the famous arch after a fairly uninspired performance and a goal from teenage sensation Endrick.

Gareth Southgate's men will have the perfect opportunity to get their Euro 2024 preparations back on track when they play Belgium on Tuesday, however. The Three Lions have a pretty shoddy recent record against their continental visitors, winning just one of their last four outings, and are likely to ring the changes as they look to hand opportunities to impress to a number of fringe squad members.

But how are England likely to line up in midweek? We've taken a closer look at their predicted starting XI below...

Jordan Pickford

England's undisputed number one at this stage, and solid again against Brazil on Saturday evening. Perhaps the Everton man will be hooked at half-time to afford Aaron Ramsdale some minutes, but Pickford should start.

Joe Gomez

Gomez's form for Liverpool has been more than enough to ensure that he played his way back into Southgate's plans this week, but with plenty of defenders still to return from injury, the versatile 26-year-old will need to put in a decent display on Tuesday to cement his spot in the Euro 2024 squad.

Lewis Dunk

Another who will be eager to stake his claim for a spot in Germany. The Brighton man is unlikely to start many matches for the national team, so must take his chances when he can.

Jarrad Branthwaite

Could we see an England debut for the Everton defender? So impressive for the Toffees this season, and undoubtedly a star of the future, it remains to be seen whether he can do enough to convince Southgate of his importance this summer.

Ben Chilwell

Chilwell did not have a good game against Brazil, but the lack of other realistic options at left-back could ensure that he is given an opportunity to redeem himself on Tuesday. Manchester City starlet Rico Lewis has since been called up for action, however, and as such, Southgate could look to change things up if the Chelsea defender puts in a similarly underwhelming display against Belgium.

Kobbie Mainoo

The man everybody is talking about. The Manchester United teenager made his debut from the bench on Saturday night, and there will be plenty hoping that he is given an extended opportunity to prove himself in midweek.

Jordan Henderson

After Conor Gallagher failed to properly impress on Saturday, a returning Henderson could make a serious case for his inclusion in Southgate's starting XI heading into Euro 2024. He may not be the most popular option available to the England manager, but the Three Lions aren't exactly blessed with an embarrassment of riches in the centre of the park at the moment.

James Maddison

The Tottenham playmaker will surely travel to Germany, but how many minutes he gets at Euro 2024 could depend on how well he fairs on Tuesday evening.

Jarrod Bowen

Perhaps less secure in his international status than others in this XI, Bowen will be fully aware of the need to show his full worth to Southgate with a sparkling display against Belgium. He showed a glimmer of what he could bring to the table against Brazil, with surging down the right wing kick-started by an audacious nutmeg through opposition left-back Wendell.

Ivan Toney

This is a huge chance for Toney. With Ollie Watkins struggling a little against Brazil, not only could the Brentford man secure a prominent spot in Southgate's thinking, but he could also stake his claim as the natural understudy to skipper Harry Kane.

Marcus Rashford

The Manchester United attacker came off the bench against Brazil, but will know that after a difficult season, a big performance on Tuesday would go a long way towards nailing down his place in England's Euro 2024 squad.
