The genius £60m January signing who could turbocharge Arsenal's Premier League title bid

Arsenal have spent the past few years chasing down a title under the guidance of Mikel Arteta but haven’t been able to get their hands on the trophy again just yet. The Gunners are currently sat in third in the table just behind London rivals Chelsea on goal difference, behind after their 2-0 win over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium last time out.
They are seven points off top spot and are two points above Manchester City, who have under-performed by their standards so far in this campaign. Arteta will see this season as an ideal opportunity to capitalise with Pep Guardiola’s side nowhere near their potent best just yet.

Hide AdArsenal need to catch Liverpool though and the Reds have lost just once so far this term, at home to Nottingham Forest. The Gunners have been widely tipped to pursue a new striker, with some reports going as far as to suggest they’ve already prepared a striker shortlist. Arsenal have now been linked with a move for Wolves star Matheus Cunha - a real Fantasy Premier League favourite - in the upcoming January transfer window, and he would be an ideal addition to boost their chances.
According to a report by CaughtOffside, they have held some ‘initial talks’ already over landing the forward this winter as they look to beat Manchester United to his signature, with AC Milan, Napoli, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Aston Villa also credited as potential suitors. However, he could cost in the region of £60 million meaning interested parties will need to fork out big money for his services.
Pace and power
If Arsenal were to sign Cunha, he would give them more competition in attacking areas. He would also provide something different going forward and offer an alternative option to call upon in important games - so he fits the bill nicely.
The 25-year-old’s pace and power has been proven to cause problems for top flight sides and he is impressive at dribbling with the ball and helping his team get up the pitch. Despite Wolves’ struggles under Gary O’Neil over recent times, he has still been able to show what he can do and make an impact.

Hide AdCunha has made 14 appearances in all competitions so far this season for the Midlands outfit and has chipped in with seven goals and three assists. He is under contract at Molineux until June 2027, meaning they are under no pressure to cash in on him just yet and can afford to wait for the right bid to come in for his signature.
Title chasing teams need depth in all positions and if the Gunners are to be genuine contenders again, they could do with getting someone like the Brazilian in next month to send a statement out to the rest of the division. It would also excite their supporters and show that they mean business, and offer an alternative option to Sporting CP’s Victor Gyokeres, who may well opt to reunite with his former manage Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford, despite the Gunners’ rumoured interest.
Prior to joining Wolves, Arsenal-linked Cunha spent two years at Atletico Madrid under Diego Simeone. He also has also been at FC Sion, RB Leipzig and Hertha Berlin in the past. His current teammate Mario Lemina has recently hailed his influence and said: “He’s a special player. We know it. And he’s working really well for the team. He deserves all the praise he’s being given, because he’s unbelievable right now.”
