Chelsea and Manchester United both have the chance to sign players before the deadline

It has been another disappointing season for Manchester United in the Premier League. Ruben Amorim was picked as Erik ten Hag’s replacement earlier this winter but it has been a mixed start for the former Sporting Lisbon man.

He has time on his side to sort things out as he looks to get the Red Devils up the table. They have until the end of the January transfer window to inject some more quality into their ranks.

As for Chelsea, Enzo Maresca has made a positive impression since his move to London last summer. He was lured to Stamford Bridge after guiding Leicester City to the Championship title last year.

The Blues are currently sat in the top four as they eye a return to the Champions League. They have a very young squad these days and Maresca is getting the best out of them.

What would Alejandro Garnacho offer to Chelsea?

United winger Alejandro Garnacho, who is 20-years-old, fits the bill completely for Chelsea. He is young, has bags of potential and his long-term future with his current club is up in the air.

The Argentina international has been in and out of the team under Amorim so far and he has been linked with a switch to the Blues before the deadline on Monday 3rd February. It remains to be seen at this stage whether he will head out the exit door or stay where he is until the summer.

Garnacho could do with a change of scene to get his career fully going. He won’t benefit at all from being a substitute as much as he is at the moment. The youngster needs to be playing every week if he is going to become a top player in Europe. Chelsea would give him the platform to show what he can do and allow him to express himself.

If Maresca was to land him, he would give him another option to pick from going forward. He would also provide more competition and depth on the wing. It is yet to be known whether United would be willing to sell to a league rival. If they were to let him go, they would likely want a big fee, but could Chelsea try and tempt them into a sale by including a player as part of a swap deal?

Is Christopher Nkunku an option for Manchester United?

Christopher Nkunku’s move to Chelsea hasn’t worked out and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him depart in the near future. He could be a useful option for United and they could do with adding more firepower into their squad.

The Frenchman has struggled to hit the ground running with the Blues and may feel he has a point to prove. Letting him go would free up space and funds to pave the way for reinforcements, potentially Garnacho.

Nkunku was prolific at RB Leipzig before switching to England and scored 70 goals in 172 games. He hasn’t been able to find the same form since then a new challenge may inspire him to.

United are crying out for some fresh blood and the former PSG man would be a good short-term fix for Amorim as they look to rise up the league. He would be perfect competition for the likes of Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee for the time being.
