Why David Moyes could be a quick fix for Crystal Palace as pressure mounts on Oliver Glasner
Time is ticking fast for Oliver Glasner to turn things around for Crystal Palace. The Eagles are having a disappointing season, which could worsen if results don’t pick up. While it’s often said that time heals wounds when a wound is severe and left untreated, the consequences can be devastating - something Crystal Palace would want to avoid.
Currently stuck in the relegation zone with just three points from seven games and no wins, it wouldn't be a surprise if Glasner becomes the first managerial casualty of the season should he lose to Nottingham on Monday night. Crystal Palace may prefer a more familiar face to solve their issues and might look to hire an experienced Premier League manager. Unless they’re willing to coax Roy Hodgson out of retirement for the umpteenth time, David Moyes could be the ideal candidate to save the team from sinking further.

Moyes did an incredible job at West Ham United, turning them into a regular participant in European competitions. However, the club's desire for a more "modern" style of football led to his departure in favour of Spaniard Julen Lopetegui.
Moyes has the experience needed to save Crystal Palace and guide them back to the upper half of the Premier League table. His pragmatic approach to football would suit the Eagles in their current predicament. One thing you can always expect from a David Moyes-led team is player fitness and aggressive play, and the squad already has the athletes he can rely on for a battle.
Moyes’ two stints with the Hammers had similar beginnings. In November 2017, with the team in the relegation zone, Moyes was hired on a short-term deal to steer the club to safety. He succeeded, keeping them up with two games to spare in the 2017/18 Premier League season before leaving at the end of his six-month contract.
He returned to save West Ham again after Manuel Pellegrini was dismissed in December 2019 with the team in 17th place. Moyes guided them to safety that season and then achieved a sixth-place finish the following year, securing European football. He transformed West Ham from a struggling side into a regular European contender and eventually left them with a European trophy—the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Fans of the Eagles would surely hope that Moyes agrees to join them if Glasner is shown the door, drawing inspiration from his successful tenures at West Ham United.
