The latest injury news and return dates as Everton travel to Wolves

Everton boss David Moyes hopes to welcome back some of his troops for the final furlong of the Premier League season.

The Goodison Park club have had a dearth of attacking options during Moyes’ tenure with the likes of Dwight McNeil, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja all sustaining injuries which makes the club recent resurgence even more impressive with the once written off Beto emerging as a cult hero in recent weeks.

Moyes inherited Everton when they were just one point away from safety and now has his team comfortably sitting 15 points clear of the drop zone. As Everton aim to continue their strong run of form, we take a look at the injury situation and the key stars closing in on a return to competitive action.

Everton defensive and midfield injury woes

Seamus Coleman - out: Fan favourite Seamus Coleman hasn’t made an outing since a 1-1 draw at Manchester City on Boxing Day because of a calf complaint. David Moyes, however, is confident he will be able to reintroduce him to the setup in the near future. I would absolutely hope [he will return before the end of the season] because I'd like that for many reasons. The first thing Seamus has to do is get himself back fit,” explained Moyes. Expected return date: 02/04/2025.

Abdoulaye Doucoure - returns: Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is targeting a return to action after celebrating the birth of his child last week. The 32-year-old has been in solid form for Moyes in recent weeks.

Orel Mangala - out: Orel Mangala has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury. 'Mangala will go back. I think we're waiting for the surgeon to clear it. I think he will be operated on in France, as far as we know.” Explained Moyes back in January. Expected return date: 29/11/2025.

When will Dwight McNeil be back from injury?

Dwight McNeil - out: David Moyes will want to get McNeil, who recorded four goals and three assists in 15 games this term, available to bolster Everton’s attack. But the ex-Burnley star may not be back until after the international break latest this month, at the earliest.

Moyes said via the Liverpool Echo: “I don’t think he’s due back quickly, it will be weeks but there’s no setback. As far as I know, they opened his knee up and had a look inside. I think he’s on the way back and moving about. If we could get him back after the international break that would be good but I think that sounds a bit sharpish.” Expected return date: 02/04/2025.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin - doubt: Dominic Calvert-Lewin is edging closer to a return from a thigh injury as he looks to prove himself worthy of a new contract. Expected return date: 08/03/2025.

Iliman Ndiaye - out: Skillful forward Iliman Ndiaye is on the road to recovery and should return sooner than originally expected. Moyes said: “Iliman has been taking injections, and we're quite positive... we're hoping we can get him back maybe [earlier] than the time we thought - but he’s not fit just now.” Expected return date: 15/03/25.

Armando Broja - doubt: Albanian ace Armando Broja is pushing for a return after a nightmare period of injuries at Goddison Park. Expected return date: 08/03/2025.
