The Toffees will host Newcastle this weekend in their next Premier League challenge.

Everton have finally hit a positive run of form after picking up their first points of a tricky 2024/25 Premier League season so far. After four tough defeats in a row, the Toffees earned a draw against Leicester City to break their miserable streak, before banking a hard-fought win over Crystal Palace last time out.

Everton have now clawed their way out of the bottom three and currently sit in 16th place with four points on the board. Sean Dyche’s side will be hoping to carry this momentum into their next match but Newcastle United are next on their list.

The Magpies will travel to Goodison Park, having last denied Manchester City a win at St James’ Park. Despite not having Callum Wilson or Alexander Isak up front, former Evertonian Anthony Gordon was the man on song to help Newcastle secure a 1-1 draw.

Everton are working with injuries though and will be without some players when they face Eddie Howe’s side this weekend. Here is Dyche’s list of fitness issues and when the players in question are expected to be back in action.

Youssef Chermiti

Dyche confirmed in August that Youssef Chermiti would miss the opening fixtures for Everton after suffering a foot injury. The boss did not give an exact timescale on the forward’s injury and recently said that while he is ‘making good progress’, they are dealing with a ‘long-term’ problem.

Armando Broja

Summer loan signing Armando Broja is yet to make his first appearance for Everton as he recovers from injury. Fortunately, Albanian journalist Klaudio Ndreca has reported that while Everton are not risking him in October, he could return for the international break in November.

Nathan Patterson

Nathan Patterson remains on the sidelines following surgery on a hamstring injury with no estimated return date in sight just yet. Last month, Dyche said the defender is doing ‘very well’ with his recovery but a long period is required before he can return.

Seamus Coleman

Dyche’s latest update on Seamus Coleman was that he is still injured and ‘for longer’ than the team had hoped. The boss admitted they aren’t sure on timescales when it comes to the skipper’s return but it is not going to be a ‘quick situation’.

Dele Alli

Dele Alli’s ongoing fitness issues have kept him off the pitch for a substantial amount of time. The former Tottenham Hotspur man has not played a competitive match since February 2023 and is not longer technically registered with Everton. The club have offered him the chance to build up his fitness, though, which is what he is working towards.
