Leeds United sign £15m Tottenham gem and Bundesliga midfielder as monster summer transfer window predicted

Newly-promoted Leeds United look set for a busy summer of wheeling and dealing

Survival in the Premier League is arguably as hard as it has ever been. The knowledge of what is to come will not have deterred the latest set of sides to arrive with a spring in their step from the Championship, least of all 100-point title winners Leeds United.

Daniel Farke and his men will know how difficult a task they have on their hands, but with a wealth of Premier League history and the backing of Elland Road behind them, the Yorkshire outfit will fancy their chances.

They will need to go about their transfer business smartly, though. Trusting an existing squad of players has been shown not to work too well for promoted clubs in recent times, while Nottingham Forest’s scatter-gun approach in 2022-23 worked - just about - but would have had drastic financial consequences had they been relegated.

The sweet spot is likely somewhere between the two, but recruitment will need to be near-on perfect. We decided to ask AI to predict what Leeds's summer transfer window may look like, and the results were eye-opening.

AI predicts £116m Leeds United transfer spree

Some major moves have been predicted by Leeds in the transfer market, with the Whites touted for a massive £116m splash as they look to secure Premier League survival.

Three signings have already been announced by the Elland Road club, most recently Wolfsburg defender Sebastiaan Bornauw for £5.1m, while Jaka Bijol has arrived from Udinese for £15m to complete a new centre-back pairing, and Lukas Nmecha joined on a free transfer after the forward also departed Wolfsburg to play in the white strip of Leeds.

But AI believes Leeds are not done there, with a £15m permanent deal expected to be done with Tottenham Hotspur for winger Manor Solomon, while Aaron Ramsdale will arrive for £25m from Southampton to replace the much-criticised Illan Meslier in goal. The striking department is a crucial one to strengthen for any promoted side and AI predict Leeds to do just that, in a £29m deal with Fulham for Rodrigo Muniz. Despite reports that the Cottagers have no intention of selling the striker, the prediction is that a deal will be done for the Brazilian to lead the line for the newly-promoted side.

Furthermore, a £15m move for tough-tackling midfielder Anton Stach may be in the offing, alongside a £12.5m deal for left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson. This would complete a total of eight new signings arriving at Elland Road and an outlay of £116.6m to get hearts racing amongst their relegation rivals.

Ten players depart in Leeds clear-out

In order to make way for the new faces, AI has predicted that ten players will leave Leeds this summer. In a surprising twist, vice-captain Pascal Struijk is predicted to depart in a £10m transfer to make way for the new defensive faces, though we are sure this would not be Farke’s preferred outcome.

Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Darko Gyabi are all expected to be sold for £3-4m each, with AI believing they will not get many minutes in the Premier League and are best placed searching for first-team football elsewhere. Max Wober is also closing in on a move to Werder Bremen and AI predicts this transfer will go through in a £5m deal.

The predictions continue with the permanent departure of recent Everton loan player Jack Harrison for an “undisclosed fee” - interesting not to disclose the fee of a fictional transfer which has not happened yet - while Rasmus Kristensen has already left for Eintracht Frankfurt for £7.6m.

Finally, the trio of Junior Firpo, Joshua Guilavogui and Harry Christy have been released, completing a list of some ten departures and an income of up to £34.6m (plus Harrison’s fee, if AI decide to release it). It remains to be seen how many of these transfer dealings prove to be true, but it would certainly be interesting to see how well this new-look Leeds side would do in the Premier League next season.
