International football is over for 2023 and England fans have a summer in Germany to look forward to with Gareth Southgate's side eyeing success at the Euros.

They will be joined by Scotland while Wales will also hope to be there but will have to earn their spot via the play-offs. For the next few months though it will be all about club football and the Premier League is back this weekend in some style as Manchester City and Liverpool kick off a mouthwatering weekend of action.

Meanwhile, there are still plenty of transfer news stories making headlines as the January window creeps up on us. Liverpool are being linked with a former Manchester City winger, a loan move for Newcastle United is looking increasingly likely and Arsenal and Chelsea may have just been dealt a potential transfer blow. Here are the latest Premier League transfer news headlines on Saturday, November 25:

Liverpool linked with move for former Man City winger

As reported by Christian Falk, Liverpool could move for former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane in the January transfer window. The Bayern Munich attacker has scored 11 goals in 25 appearances for club and country this season and will enter the final 18 months of his current contract in the new year.

It has been three and a half years since we last saw the 108 times capped German international in the English top flight after his €45 million plus move from the reigning champions. Could we be seeing him back and wearing the red of Liverpool?

The 3AM Verdict: There's no doubt it would be great to have a player of Sane's quality back in the Premier League and there are certainly aspects of this story that seem like it could be plausible. The rumours linking Mo Salah to Saudi Arabia aren't going anywhere and replacing him with an established superstar like Sane would be a smart move as the likes of Ben Doak continue their development. It's often the case when player enter the final 18 months of a contract that the rumour mill starts spinning so we'll have to see where this one goes.

Newcastle United look likely to make Phillips loan move

Kalvin Phillips' future continues to be in the headlines and the most prominent potential suitors continue to be Newcastle United. With The Times reporting that Eddie Howe's Magpies will indeed be looking to bring the former Leeds United favourite to St James' Park this January it looks like we can certainly expect plenty of talk in the coming months and when the transfer window does open.

The 3AM Verdict: This continues to seem like a likely move we will see when the window opens. Phillips is no closer to the level of regular football he would want in the City first team and needs to make sure he is playing regularly to keep a hold of his place in Gareth Southgate's England team for the Euros. Newcastle have been linked since the summer and could use reinforcements in midfield so we expect this one has a good chance of going through.

Arsenal and Chelsea dealt potential transfer blow by Brentford

Finishing off in London and Brentford have apparently told potential suitors of Ivan Toney that the striker wont be getting sold this January. That report comes from The Mirror and could be seen as a blow for both Arsenal and Chelsea who had been heavily linked with the 27-year old.

They are far from the only clubs who have been linked and it did look like the Bees could be set for a flurry of interest when the window opens. However, it looks like they are trying to get the message out early that Toney is going nowhere and that clubs shouldn't even bother testing their resolve.

The 3AM Verdict: This one does come as a bit of a surprise. It's obviously no shock that Brentford want to keep a hold of the striker when he returns from his ban but closing off potential offers when they could make big money is perhaps strange. Their form has been less consistent without Toney in the side this season but far from worrying. Of course, a player like Toney could potentially have turned some of their four draws into wins and their four losses into draws so Thomas Frank is probably aware that they would likely be higher up the table if they had him available.
