Liverpool have released two brand new shirts to commemorate one of their greatest nights.

Liverpool have unveiled a new range of memorabilia which includes two brand new limited edition shirts to celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of the club’s greatest nights – the extraordinary comeback win against AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League final.

The new jerseys won’t be worn in any official matches but are available to purchase now for any fans who want to have a fresh way of commemorating one of their club’s most memorable moments.

The new kits fill a gap before new kit manufacturer Adidas release next season’s kits – details of which already appear to have been leaked online.

New red and black anniversary kits released by Liverpool

As part of the new selection of memorabilia and collectables, Liverpool are releasing two new shirts – a red home jersey which is based on the kit worn by Steven Gerrard and company on that famous night in Istanbul, and a black and gold special edition shirt, helpfully modelled by club legend Sami Hyypiä in the marketing images above.

The red ‘home’ kit is effectively identical to the shirt worn twenty years ago save for the absence of Reebok’s logo, unsurprising given that the sportswear firm haven’t made Liverpool’s kits since 2006, and the addition of a modified club crest. Both versions of the jersey feature a gold club badge, centred and embossed with the legend “European Champions” above the liver bird.

Apparently the ‘blackout’ version of the shirt is “inspired” by the home kit worn during the final itself, although none of Liverpool’s outfield shirts for the 2004/05 season were black. Polo shirts, t-shirts and other items of clothing in the same colour scheme will also be available.

Vast range of memorabilia for sale but 2025/26 kits remain unreleased

Fans keen to find more ways to mark the twentieth anniversary of the victory in Istanbul will certainly not be short on options, either, especially if they have a fairly hefty amount of disposal income to get rid of.

A massive range of collectibles and memorabilia have been put on sale alongside the two new kits, ranging from a wash bag (£60) to a golf bag (£600) right the way up to a shirt signed by the squad (a mere £1,500). Slightly more affordable entries in the range include mugs, pint glasses, and some rather nice scarves embroidered with stitched images of famous moments from the game against Milan.

Fans with less cash to burn may well be more interested to learn more about the home, away and third kits that will be worn next season – while official images have yet to be released, leaked details of the new jerseys for the 2025/26 season are available for those wondering whether to hold on to their money and buy the new shirt instead of a commemorative one.

Of course, 20 years on from their glorious night in Istanbul, Liverpool are champions once again having won the Premier League during Arne Slot’s first season in charge – who knows how much the memorabilia from this success will cost fans in twenty years’ time…
