Liverpool have a lot to consider in 2025 when it comes to the upcoming transfer windows. After a quiet summer passed, the Reds have not only been tipped to make some serious signings but they could also see a number of key players leave the club as well.
The likes of Caoimhin Kelleher and Joe Gomez were linked with moves away from Anfield over the summer. The signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili and Liverpool’s interest in new centre-backs could suggest that exits are on the cards for these two players in the near future. Then, there is of course the situation with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

Salah’s future has been a huge talking point since last summer but despite Saudi Arabia offering eye-popping money for his signature, Liverpool have hung onto their star winger. At 32 and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, Salah is still in the headlines.
The Egyptian is in superb form once again this season, with five goals and four assists in eight games overall so far. If he does not put pen to paper soon, clubs will soon be able to approach him with pre-contract discussions. If Salah is to leave Anfield in 2025, it will leave a huge hole in the team that not many players will be able to fill.
The winger has tallied 216 goals and 93 assists for Liverpool since his arrival in 2017 and it will be incredibly difficult to replace him whenever he does leave. However, there are world-class players out there who could be a strong option and the Reds are reportedly already exploring one.

Hide AdRodrygo is a name that has been linked with Liverpool for a while now but nothing concrete ever arose as other reports would shut down the rumours. However, since Kylian Mbappé joined the Real Madrid ranks, reports are once again suggesting Rodrygo could be looking to move on.
According to TDF (via Paisley Gates), Liverpool are targeting the Brazilian along with midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni and Michael Edwards could now ‘make an offer’ to sign the high profile duo.
Rodrygo is a right-winger by trade so would naturally slot in the position left behind by Salah but he can also operate on the left and in the No.9 positional. His versatility would suit other around him at Anfield, as Cody Gakpo, Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota are all comfortable in rotating around the front three.
His goal return is also a very attractive asset — last season, Rodrygo contributed 17 goals and nine assists, and 19 goals and 11 assists in the season prior. Despite some criticism that he is not operating at 100 percent since the arrival of both Mbappé and Endrick, the Brazilian has still managed to put three goals and two assists on the board so far.

Hide AdAt 23, Rodrygo has a long career still ahead of him and his numbers already speak for themselves. If Liverpool are on the market for a ready-made replacement for Salah, Rodrygo is a very good option and would be a huge statement signing to mark a new era. Naturally, he won’t come cheap, though. Transfermarkt currently value the forward at €110 million (£92m) and with his contract not up until 2028, it’s highly likely Liverpool will be required to splash a huge amount of cash to get a deal over the line.
But, replacing Salah with someone with a similar goal return is crucial, and this is one area the club should not be cutting corners with. The market prices are higher than ever and if the Reds want top talent, they will have to pay a top price.
