Jurgen Klopp is eager to bolster his midfield this summer as the Reds look to bounce back from what has been an inconsistent 2022/23 season. Alexis Mac Allister has been identified as one of Liverpool’s main targets and it seems like they are very close to getting their man.

According to Argentinian journalist German Garcia Grova, the Merseyside outfit have entered ‘advanced’ talks with the World Cup winner, who is definitely set to leave Brighton at the end of the season.

The 3AM Verdict: Liverpool desperately need to pad out their midfield if they want to challenge further up the Premier League table next season, and their ageing engine room is in need of some new blood. With the likes of James Milner, Naby Keïta, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all rumoured to be moving on, now is the perfect time to make a statement move. Signing a World Cup winner, who is just 24 years old, and capable of scoring goals like Mac Allister, would probably be the smartest possible move for Liverpool this summer.

Newcastle set to offload seven players in squad overhaul

Newcastle United are enjoying a very strong season and they will undoubtedly have plenty of options when the transfer window opens. But before they can flex their muscles this summer, they are planning to part ways with a good chunk of the current squad.

That’s according to Football Insider, who report that the Magpies have picked out seven players who they are looking to sell at the end of the season. These players are Karl Darlow, Paul Dummett, Loris Karius, Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles, Matty Longstaff, and Matt Ritchie.

Their top four finish is all but locked in and that, teamed up with the recent takeover, will be very attractive to new players. Chelsea enter race for £70 million forward with 23 goals

Sticking with Football Insider, it has been reported that Manchester United are now facing competition in the race to sign striker Lautaro Martínez this summer. Chelsea have registered their interest in the 25-year-old, who will be available to sign for a fee in the region of £70 million.

The Blues have enjoyed splashing the cash over the last few transfer windows and, based on this season’s poor run and goal return, they are eager to add more firepower to their attack. Martínez has netted an impressive 23 goals across all competitions for Inter Milan this season, and has contributed a further nine assists.

When relegation candidates Leeds United and Leicester have scored more than you, you know something isn’t right somewhere.
