International break may be upon us but that hasn't stopped the constant turning of the domestic transfer rumour mill. There have been a lot of links to new signings and potential exits in the Premier League as we approach the summer window.

The thrilling battle at the top of the table will have attracted a lot of attention from other clubs and the growing threat of Financial Fair Play breaches could also see teams forced to cash in on important players for high fees. Let's take a look at some of the biggest Premier League transfer rumours for this weekend.

Real Madrid want Alexander-Arnold

Ahead of Jurgen Klopp's exit from Liverpool, rival clubs have their eyes on some key figures at the club, hoping they might be able to strike a deal in the wake of the iconic manager's departure. Mohamed Salah has been the main name linked to an exit but now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Trent Alexander-Arnold is also a topic of interest.

The transfer expert has reported that Real Madrid 'are monitoring' the Liverpool vice-captain's contract situation. His current terms are due to expire in the summer of 2025 and despite many journalists believing he will be penning a new deal any day now, 'no talks are underway' yet.

There has reportedly been 'no indication' of Alexander-Arnold's views on the situation but Liverpool have not shown any desire to sell their £60 million-rated right-back.

The 3AM Verdict: Selling Trent Alexander-Arnold would be a huge statement from Liverpool Football Club, and not a good one at that. With Klopp leaving the club at the end of the season, there are already concerns over which players might follow him out the door. If Liverpool are unable to tie down a crucial, homegrown player like Alexander-Arnold, it will suggest this new era is already going to be a disastrous one before it's even begun. Getting key players to commit to the future of this new chapter at Anfield will send out a very important statement.

Chelsea preparing 'big-money' new deal

Chelsea are hoping to cash in on some high profile players this summer to bring in much-needed cash. Amid the clamping down on FFP breaches, the Blues are concerned they could be faced with charges, having spent more than £1 billion since the arrival of Todd Boehly in 2022.

There is a long list of players who would command a high transfer fee at Stamford Bridge but one man who is not for sale is Cole Palmer. According to Football Insider, Chelsea are preparing to offer 'a big-money new contract' to the 21-year-old, who joined the club in a £40 million move from Manchester City just six months ago. Palmer is already tied to a lengthy seven-year contract but Chelsea are eager to keep him at the club for as long as possible, and it's not hard to see why after his 16 goals and 12 assists already this season.

The 3AM Verdict: Chelsea have a stacked squad to make up some money in order to keep out of FFP hot water. In recent weeks, the likes of Conor Gallagher and Raheem Sterling have been the topic of sale rumours, while other players including Trevoh Chalobah have been exit-linked for some time now. With funds needing to be raised, it's like the Blues will also cash in on other players, giving them the space to invest in crucial players like Palmer. In a difficult season for Chelsea, Palmer has been one of their standout performers and as they look to improve their form, the versatile youngster will certainly be one of the main names leading the charge.

Arsenal want Newcastle star

Title challengers Arsenal have set their sights on signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, according to The Express. The Magpies have their own FFP guidelines to keep within and they are preparing to offload some mega money players to boost the club's funds.

The Gunners are one of a few clubs showing interest in Isak, who has scored 16 goals across all competitions this season after joining St James' Park two years ago for £63 million. Newcastle could well charge even more to sell the 24-year-old, if he becomes a go ahead for the likes of Arsenal.

The 3AM Verdict: Arsenal have been scouring the market for a new centre-forward and Isak could be the man they are looking for. With Newcastle already open to selling key players, they will just have to pitch the right price to get a deal over the line. Eddie Nketiah has been linked to an exit and with Gabriel Jesus' ongoing injury concerns, Arsenal will make a big statement by splashing the cash on a reliable striker who is already a feared opponent in the Premier League.
