Manchester United could hardly have salvaged their Boxing Day in more dramatic fashion, with the Red Devils coming from two goals behind at Old Trafford to record a memorable 3-2 victory over high-flying Aston Villa. Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund was the hero of the hour, scoring the winner to register his first Premier League goal at the 15th time of asking after an Alejandro Garnacho brace had dragged Erik ten Hag's side level.

That result leaves United sixth in the table, six points adrift of the top four, at the time of writing. Next up for the Red Devils is a clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening, with Nuno Espirito Santo's men enjoying a minor Christmas miracle of their own earlier in the week. Forest upset all of the odds to beat Newcastle United at St. James' Park on Boxing Day, with Chris Wood scoring a superb hat-trick to hand Nuno his first win since replacing Steve Cooper in the dugout.

But how will the two sides line up when they meet at the City Ground this weekend? We've taken a closer look at their respective team news and predicted XIs below...

Manchester United Team News

For United, Ten Hag's main concern at the present moment in time is a barrage of defensive injuries. Centre-back pairing Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are both expected to be sidelined until next month, and join Lisandro Martinez on the treatment table. The Argentine is still overcoming a foot complaint, but should be available again in the new year. At full-back, Tyrell Malacia is still out, while question marks linger over Luke Shaw. The England international was unexpectedly ruled out of the Boxing Day win over Aston Villa.

Further forward, Sofyan Amrabat was also missing from Tuesday's comeback victory, while Casemiro is set to be out until mid-January as a consequence of a thigh injury. Mason Mount is still absent, as is Amad Diallo - although the Ivorian is closing in on a return. Jadon Sancho is unavailable following a high-profile dispute with his manager.

There is still no word on Anthony Martial either, with the Frenchman suffering from a virus of late. The 28-year-old did not make the match day squad against Villa, but may be back in contention ahead of the weekend.

By comparison, Forest's list of absentees is fairly short, but there are still a couple of significant names likely to be missing for Nuno's side. Taiwo Awoniyi is still out of action due to a groin issue, and may not play again until March. Elsewhere, defensive duo Felipe and Serge Aurier are both expected to be out until the new year.

Willy Boly will return to the squad after serving a one-game ban for a second bookable offence during a recent defeat to Bournemouth, but Ibrahima Sangare is set to miss out after accumulating five yellow cards and earning himself a suspension.

Nottingham Forest Predicted XI

Matt Turner; Gonzal Montiel, Moussa Niakhite, Murillo, Ola Aina; Danilo, Nicolas Dominguez, Anthony Elanga, Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi; Chris Wood.
