The Manchester United team news and injury update ahead of their Premier League game against Crystal Palace.

Manchester United have their tails up as they head to Selhurst Park off the back of a 7-0 win over Barnsley. Prior to that, they beat Southampton 3-0, so this will be their chance to secure three consecutive wins if they manage to take all three points at Selhurst Park.

There has certainly been a feel-good factor, particularly with Marcus Rashford’s return to form, having scored in back-to-back games, and under-fire forward Antony also finding the net in the League Cup.

The margins in football are fine, and Erik ten Hag was under pressure just before the international break when his team lost to Liverpool. They appeared to be in trouble, but the return from the break has brought positivity and the return of key players.

For Crystal Palace, it’s been a challenging start, as they’re still searching for their first league win. Their only victory so far came against QPR in the League Cup.

Ten Hag’s side come to Selhurst Park as heavy favourites and should secure the three points, which would take them into the top seven of the league table.

Manchester United team news:

United have been handed a boost as both Rasmus Højlund and Mason Mount returned to group training this week. Both players have struggled with injuries and missed the last three games, but their return provides Ten Hag with options to surprise Palace in both attack and midfield.

Ten Hag will provide further updates in his pre-match press conference, but there’s a strong likelihood that Mount, who has trained all week, could start to counter the energy in the Palace midfield.

There’s a saying, "If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it," and there likely won’t be many changes to the attack that put seven past Barnsley. Alejandro Garnacho, Rashford, and Antony are all pushing to be in the starting eleven, and it would be harsh if they didn’t make the team after such a dominant performance.

Mount is likely to come straight in for a number of reasons, including his energy and pressing, which complement Bruno Fernandes’ skill and Kobbie Mainoo’s ability. The latter is a high flyer in the Wonderkid Power Rankings, moving up a place in this week’s standings. Though injuries have kept them from playing together consistently, Mount, who was signed from Chelsea for £55 million, should fit right in. Rumours continue to suggest the Red Devils could look to strengthen their midfield further in January, with the re-signing of former youngster Angel Gomes touted as a potential option, following his surprise breakthrough into Lee Carsley’s England squad.

De Ligt - who we tipped to make a big impact at Old Trafford - and Martinez have emerged as the preferred defensive pairing, so expect them to retain their spots, showcasing growing consistency and belief in their partnership.

Possible Lineup:

Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Mount, Mainoo; Fernandes, Rashford; Antony, Garnacho.
