The latest Fantasy Premier League injury news, featuring updates on Alexander Isak, Amad Diallo and more.

The Fantasy Premier League is back with some midweek action – and as always, we’ve kept across the press conferences and scoured the news reports to keep you up-to-date with all the latest injury news ahead of Gameweek 21.

Alexander Isak, João Pedro, Amad Diallo and Evanilson are among the popular picks with nasty-looking coloured triangles next to their name in the FPL app this time around, and we’ve got updates on their conditions below, along with news of many more players who could miss out this time around.

And if you’re looking for some more general FPL advice, don’t forget to check out our resident expert’s latest hints and tips column by clicking here – this week, our man takes a look at why this might be the one week you shouldn’t captain Mohamed Salah, wonders whether it’s worth bringing Erling Haaland back in, and looks at plenty else besides.

Alexander Isak

Given that Isak is one of the most in-form players in the Premier League and has found the back of the net in seven consecutive gameweeks, the yellow triangle that popped up next to his name will have a lot of players worried.

It’s a hamstring issue for Isak, who felt some tightness around the hour mark of the EFL Cup win over Arsenal and missed out in the FA Cup Third Round this weekend as a result. Eddie Howe has told the press that it’s only a “minor” problem, however, and that he hopes Isak will be “there or thereabouts” for Wednesday night’s game at home to Wolves. The same applies for Sven Botman and Jacob Murphy as well. Likely to play, but with some chance that he doesn’t feature for the full 90.

João Pedro

Popular budget asset Pedro is a doubt for Thursday evening’s trip to Portman Road courtesy of an ankle injury, and Fabian Hürzeler was non-committal on his availability, simply saying that it would depend on how he handled today’s training session. Apparently, Brighton won’t do anything “stupid”, so there seems little chance that he is risked if unfit.

Amad Diallo

Amad may be going under the radar as a minutes risk this week, as the FPL app hasn’t assigned an injury status to him – but he was left out of the line-up for Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Arsenal with what manager Ruben Amorim described as a “small issue”. Amorim didn’t expand on the nature of the problem and no further updates have been provided, making it very unclear whether he will be available this week.

Evanilson

Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Evanilson is out of Bournemouth’s match against Chelsea with a foot injury. The Brazilian summer signing has undergone surgery on a broken metatarsal and is expected to face a lengthy lay-off, although the club have not offered a timeline for his return as yet. Time to transfer the former Porto man out, unfortunately.

Reece James

Plenty of players like to roll the dice on club captain James on the rare occasions that he’s fit, and they will get another chance this week with Enzo Maresca confirming that James is available for the game against Bournemouth. He didn’t suggest that James would get the nod to start over Malo Gusto, but he does appear to be an option for any gamblers out there. For now, at least.

Gabriel Jesus

Sadly, it looks like bad news for the 6.5% of players who signed the Brazilian striker following a recent flurry of goals – and even worse news for Jesus himself. Mikel Arteta told the media today that the injury Jesus sustained in the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United is feared to be an ACL, and while we await confirmation it may well be the case that his season is over. Arteta has simply said that he is “very worried” about the injury, and it looks like a pretty bleak situation. Jurriën Timber, who appeared to be struggling towards the end of Sunday’s match, is apparently “fine”.

Dwight McNeil

We also have some news from David Moyes’ first pre-match press conference as Everton manager (well, not his first by any stretch of the imagination, but you know what we mean). It seems that winger Dwight McNeil, who had been a popular budget asset earlier in the season and is still hanging around in a fair few squads, is out this week with an “ongoing knee issue”. The former Burnley man had been tagged with a yellow triangle on almost weekly basis before the New Year and may need some recovery time. Dominic Calvert-Lewin should be fine to play.
