Newcastle & Nottingham Forest target ‘leaving transfer to god’ and Chelsea's audacious £60m wonderkid bid

The latest Premier League transfer rumours, including news from Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Chelsea.

It’s time for our latest round-up of all the biggest and freshest Premier League transfer rumours – and today’s selection ranges from the audacious to the intriguing, and we’ll start with the former courtesy of a story concerning Chelsea’s interest in one of the brightest talents in world football.

Spanish website Fichajes claims that the Blues are not only keen on an implausible move for Real Madrid and Brazil wonderkid Endrick, but that they have already launched a €70m (around £60m) bid, which was rebuffed by those making the decisions at the Bernabeu.

Apparently Real are “emphatic” that the teenager, who only moved to Madrid a year and a half ago, isn’t going anywhere, and a contract which runs until 2030 rather underlines the point. Nevertheless, Chelsea seem convinced that yet another youngster is the answer to their problems up front.

The 3AM Verdict: To be fair to Fichajes, who are not exactly noted for their reliability, there have been stories hinting that Real might be willing to sanction a loan for the prodigiously talented youngster, and Arsenal have been mentioned. So let’s give them the benefit of the doubt and say they’ve got some wires crossed, and maybe Chelsea have asked about a loan. There is next to no chance that he moves permanently at this point.

‘Leave it to god’ – Newcastle & Nottingham Forest target

Over to a story from Sport Witness now, who have been tracking work done by the Dutch press to cover alleged interest from Newcastle and Nottingham Forest in Feyenoord winger Igor Paixão.

The 24-year-old Brazilian’s recent performances in Europe and the Eredivisie have reportedly made “admirers” of both teams, but while the player himself insists he is focused on the task in hand in the Netherlands, he effectively hinted that some form of discussion are going on behind the scenes.

“I leave it to god. My agents and the Feyenoord board choose the best path,” he said, making it pretty clear that his representatives had been on the phone a bit. “Everyone can see how hard I work for it. I believe that things will go well by themselves.”

The 3AM Verdict: We’ve seen reports in the Italian media which suggest that Napoli are interested, too, with a reported asking price of €30m (£25.5m), so we suspect that divine intervention will have less bearing on Paixão’s future than the highest bidder. As it stands, all we seem to know for sure is that he’ll probably to a team whose name begins with an N, but as a left-sided winger we’d expect him to be of greater interest to Forest than Newcastle.

Crystal Palace, Wolves & West Ham among bidders for Eredivise star

Let’s wrap up by staying in the Netherlands, because TBR Football have a report which claims that just about the entirety of the Premier League is chasing after the signing of FC Twente’s Sem Steijn.

The attacking midfielder has supposedly drawn interest from (deep breath) Crystal Palace, Wolves, Brentford, Bournemouth and West Ham after a “stand-out season” in the Eredivisie in which he has scored 22 goals in 25 games.

He bagged 17 goals in 34 last campaign, too, so the 23-year-old plainly isn’t a flash in the pan, as a number of Premier League teams are suddenly noticing. There’s interest from France and Germany, too, but no word on how much Twente might demand for his services.

The 3AM Verdict: Hard to pass further comment without a price range or any idea of the scale of the interest from overseas, but it sounds like a player who’s been on form for about 18 months is finally drawing the transfer attention you might expect. We can believe that there will be a bit of a bunfight for him.
