Sulemana, Bazunu and Smallbone: Southampton injury updates and latest return dates ahead of Arsenal

Southampton are without a win so far in the league this season and face the daunting task of taking on an undefeated Arsenal side this weekend. The Gunners have established themselves as strong title contenders and were very unlucky not to take all three points against holders Manchester City at the Etihad recently.
Southampton must respond soon or risk falling back to the Championship, especially after their 3-1 defeat to Bournemouth last time out. The pressure is palpably growing on manager Russell Martin.

Hide AdAs Southampton head to the Emirates, they carry the burden of having lost a staggering 246 away games in the Premier League—the fifth most in the competition's history. Manager Martin almost appeared resigned to his fate after the Saints' latest road failure.
Ahead of what should be an interesting game, here are the latest injury updates for the Saints and their possible return dates. It’s worth noting that Jack Stephens is not injured; he is only suspended for this match.
Gavin Bazunu
Gavin underwent surgery after injuring his Achilles. Manager Martin said of the injury: “He's ruptured his Achilles tendon, so it was as bad as we feared. He will be out for around 9 to 10 months.” He is not expected back until 2025, which is unfortunate for the young goalkeeper who was looking to impress in the Premier League.
Kamaldeen Sulemana
The Ghanaian is yet to feature for the club this season after suffering an unspecified injury just before the season began. Reports had suggested he would be out for only three weeks, but he has yet to return to team training, let alone make it to the matchday squad. It's curious, as he was close to joining Ajax in the summer but ultimately decided against the move; however, it doesn't look like he’s any closer to playing for the Saints so far.
William Smallbone
Smallbone has also been sidelined due to a hamstring injury. This weekend might be too early for him, but he is expected to return after the upcoming international break.
