Tottenham Hotspur have left a lot of football fans speechless after taking the top spot in the Premier League as we enter the international break. With six wins and two draws from their eight games so far, only Arsenal join them as the two teams in the league yet to register a defeat.

Spurs lead their North London rivals on goal difference, having netted 18 so far. It’s been a huge statement start to the 2023/24 season after the side failed to qualify for European football last term. Tottenham finished eighth and conceded a hefty 63 goals, which was more than the likes of Brentford, West Ham, and even relegation-threatened Everton. Following the sale of Harry Kane, many wondered how Spurs would cope this season without their all-time top goalscorer. But they have thundered out of the blocks and look a real force to be reckoned with under new manager Ange Postecoglou, with summer recruits like James Maddison already shining.

But what about those who left the club? Let’s take a look at Tottenham’s summer departure list and how they’re faring at their new clubs so far.

Harry Kane

One of the most speculated transfer rumours of the window was whether Kane would leave the club in search of silverware. After plenty of contrasting reports, the striker made the £100 million move to Bayern Munich, where he has already contributed nine goals and five assists in 10 appearances across all competitions. Big numbers from Kane but hardly surprising to see him thrive so readily in the Bundesliga.

Harry Winks

It was the end of an era for Harry Winks, who left his boyhood club this summer. The midfielder was once a first team regular, but frequent starts were often few and far between in recent times, eventually resulting in his sale this year. The relegated Leicester City — who look in very good stead to return to the Premier League next season — snapped Winks up for a tidy £10 million and he has started every single Championship game for the Foxes so far.

Davinson Sánchez

After a rather quiet 2022/23 season, Spurs opted to cash in on centre-back Davinson Sánchez. The Colombian made 18 league appearances and started just nine of them, following on from a similar previous term. Sánchez made a permanent move to Galatasaray last month, ending his six-year tenure in North London. Since arriving, the defender has made three starts from a possible four in the Süper Lig.

Lucas Moura

Lucas Moura caps off the permanent summer moves headed out of Spurs this summer. At the start of the year, the Brazilian was told his contract would not be extended and he was free to leave at the end of the season. Moura left Spurs and headed back to São Paulo, signing a deal until the end of the year. He has appeared 13 times for the Brazilian side and has netted three times for his boyhood club.

Tanguy Ndombélé (loan)

Tanguy Ndombélé joined Sánchez in a move to Galatasaray this summer, but the Frenchman has only signed temporarily. This is now the third loan move the midfielder has taken since signing for Spurs in 2019 but his time in Turkey has been inconsistent so far. Ndombélé has played just 108 minutes across all competitions this season.

Djed Spence (loan)

After joining Spurs last summer, Djed Spence is now onto his second loan spell away from the club. The full-back joined Rennes in January to see out the 2022/23 season and has now linked up with Leeds United. However, it’s been far from a dream start to life at Elland Road as after just one cameo appearance for the Whites, Spence is set for a chunk of time on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury.

Joe Rodon (loan)

Joe Rodon, however, is enjoying a much more promising chapter with Leeds. Like Spence, the centre-back has signed for the Championship side on loan as they look to earn promotion at the end of the season. Rodon has featured in eight out of a possible 10 matches so far and has started seven of them.

Sergio Reguilón (loan)

After spending last season out on loan with Atlético Madrid, Sergio Reguilón has been shipped back out on a short-term deal. The Spaniard has been loaned out to league rivals Manchester United, but like Spurs teammate Spence, he has been forced out of action with an injury. Reguilón started against both Brighton and Burnley but is now unavailable due to an apparent hamstring injury.

Japhet Tanganga (loan)

Japhet Tanganga seriously struggled for senior minutes last season, so he joined the list of players headed out on loan during the summer. The centre-back has signed for FC Augsburg for the season but he is yet to play a single game for them.
