Tottenham's bizarre pre-match 2025/26 kit 'leaked' as Nike take radical new approach

Tottenham Hotspur’s new pre-match shirt for the 2025/26 Premier League season has been ‘leaked’ ahead of a planned official release in the summer, and if proven correct will see Spurs giving fans something a little different to wear in the stands.

The leak, which was reported by Footy Headlines, has not been confirmed and fake ‘reveals’ are an unfortunately frequent occurrence during this part of the year, so the leak should be treated as unconfirmed until its official release, reportedly due to take place in June.

The ‘leaked’ new Spurs pre-match kit for 2025/26

The new kit, purportedly shown in the social media post above, is definitely a little different – a strange and rather chaotic mix of metallic effects which looks a little like the T-1000 putting itself back together after melting at the end of The Terminator 2.

A grid pattern of grey stripes overlays the entire shirt, which also has the word ‘Spurs’ written across it at an angle in a repeating pattern. The result is an extremely distinctive shirt which will certainly stand out, even if it won’t be to everyone’s tastes.

Nike’s pre-match kit also marks a significant departure from the stylings of the home and away kits, both of which were also apparently leaked recently – they have been criticised for the lack of imagination involved in their creation, with both kits being rather plain and at least one review simply describing them as “boring”.

The plain dark grey away kit (which has little detail other than a subtle grid pattern similar to the one in use on the pre-match kit) in particular certainly has rather less flair than this jersey, which is probably the jazziest pre-match kit used by the club since they started wearing them several years ago.

Nike buck trend of simple kits at last

Since Nike took over from Under Armour as Tottenham Hotspur’s kit manufacturer back in 2017, they have mostly kept the shirts very simple – and this is perhaps the first time that we’ve seen them drift off in a truly experimental direction.

It fits the broader trend of clubs using pre-match shirts as a place to try new things and offer up more unusual designs to fans who want something different from the classic home and away kits.

Spurs’ North London rivals Arsenal are among sides who have tried to go in rather more out-there and interesting directions with their pre-match jerseys in recent years, although Spurs can probably claim to win the battle for most unusual kit this summer, assuming that the leaks prove to be genuine.

While we may now know what Spurs will look like next season as they try to turn things around after a dismal campaign, we still don’t know who will manage them given that it looks highly likely that current head coach Ange Postecoglou is sacked at the end of the season – and nor do we know what the squad might look like after what seems set to be an important summer for a club which has badly underperformed in 2024/25.
