Tottenham Hotspur have the chance to bring in some new faces this summer

Tottenham Hotspur will want to avoid a repeat of last season’s performance in the Premier League. They finished in a disappointing 17th place in the table above the bottom three. Nevertheless, they did manage to win the Europa League after beating Manchester United in the final in Bilbao.

Spurs have sacked Ange Postecoglou and have been in the hunt for a new boss, with Brentford’s Thomas Frank firmly in the running. They will be in the Champions League in the next campaign which should help their recruitment. The London outfit have the chance to bring in some new signings over the next couple of months.

Tottenham Hotspur eye Federico Gatti transfer deal

Spurs are interested in signing Juventus defender Federico Gatti this summer, according to CaughtOffside. They are being linked with a move for the £29million-rated Serie A man as they search for additions. The report adds that Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also keen on landing him meaning there is competition for his signature.

Gatti, 26, is an Italy international with six caps under his belt. He has been with Juve since joining them back in 2022 and they have a big decision to make regarding his future. The centre-back has made 105 appearances in all competitions to date and has scored seven goals.

He has worked his way up to Juventus following various spells in the Italian lower leagues with the likes of Alessandria, Pavaloro, Verbania and Pro Patria. The Rivoli-born man then spent time at Frosinone in the top flight before his switch to Turin came about. He was immediately loaned back to Stadio Benito Stirpe to get some regular game time.

Gatti has never played outside of his native Italy but is a wanted man. He may now fancy testing himself in a new country. His contract at the Juventus Stadium expires in June 2028 so they are under no pressure to sell him yet and can wait for the right offer to come in for his services if they are to consider cashing in.

What would Federico Gatti bring to Tottenham Hotspur?

Spurs conceded too many goals last term so need to tighten things up at the back. Injuries hurt them a lot in that department so they need players who are robust and can play every week. Therefore, Gatti could fit the bill.

His rise up the Italian pyramid suggests he is a resilient operator. He would provide more competition and depth at the back. He would also give them something different to call upon.

Spurs are in Europe again so need as many bodies available as they can to deal with the increased workload. Gatti played over 40 games for Juventus last season so knows what to expect. As with any player from abroad though, it may take him a while to adapt to life in England and patient would be required.

Postecoglou’s departure wasn’t too much of a surprise after their struggles in the league. He will be remembered for a long time though after delivering a long-awaited trophy. It remains to be seen what the former Celtic man will do next and he will be weighing up his next move in the game. He joined back in 2023 and went on to win 46.5% of matches at the helm.
