The Hammers are in the midst of something of an overhaul this summer

It has already been a summer of big change at West Ham. With Julen Lopetegui appointed in the dugout, and with a smattering of new signings already through the door, the Hammers look to be undergoing something of a rebuild, and the hope will be that they can have a much better campaign than they did last time out.

To that end, several more players have been linked in recent days, and it could well be that the Irons line up with a fairly unrecognisable side come the first day of the new Premier League season.

But how exactly will their starting XI look? We’ve taken a closer gander below, based on the deals that have been completed, and those that are reportedly in the pipeline...

Alphonse Areola

Finally shook off the competition of cult hero Lukasz Fabianski last season, and looked pretty good while doing so. A real talent between the sticks who should serve West Ham well in the months to come.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

The first of a number of reported transfer targets, Wan-Bissaka seems destined for an exit from Manchester United this summer, and the Hammers appear to be right there in the race for his signature. A very solid defensive presence in need of a fresh start.

Max Kilman

West Ham made a real statement of intent by coughing up £40 million or so to sign Kilman from Wolves earlier in the window, and for that money they have secured themselves a proper leader at the heart of defence with plenty of potential left to realise.

Joe Gomez

Another touted target, Gomez has been linked with a departure from Liverpool in recent days, and West Ham are said to be circling. Versatile and immensely talented, what a signing he would be.

Emerson Palmieri

The Italian international really came good last term, appearing in all but two of West Ham’s Premier League outings. An increasingly dependable option at left-back.

Edson Alvarez

A steady first season in England from Alvarez, but the Mexico captain certainly still has levels left to reach. The coming months will be huge in terms of him seizing the initiative in Julen Lopetegui’s plans.

Lucas Paqueta

While Paqueta continues to face an uncertain future following allegations of spot-fixing, for the time being he is still available to West Ham, and is very probably their best player too. Supremely gifted in possession, combative when needed, and endlessly inventive, he is a huge influence on the Hammers’ fortunes.

Jarrod Bowen

The England international provides a constant goal threat whether playing through the centre or out on the right flank, and one of the best pieces of business West Ham could conduct this summer would be to keep hold of him for a while longer.

Mohammed Kudus

The Ghanaian playmaker showed real signs of quality last term, and will be eager to kick on again this time around. If he does, he could become one of the most dangerous talents in his position in the Premier League.

Crysencio Summerville

The expectation is that the Leeds United winger will be unveiled as a West Ham player in the very near future, but there are, reportedly, still a couple of details in the agreement that need ironing out. When that is done, the Hammers will be securing for themselves one of the most exciting young players in the country, and at around £25 million or so, a real coup too.

Niclas Fullkrug

And finally, West Ham need a striker this summer. German international Niclas Fullkrug has been heavily linked, as has Aston Villa starlet Jhon Duran, but at this stage it remains to be seen which, if either, the Irons manage to land.
