West Ham United are looking to catch the eye, stay in a European spot and compete in the league.

West Ham United are one of the most popular teams in London, and unlike some clubs, they consistently fill their stadium every weekend. However, one of the biggest challenges they’ve faced this season is playing the kind of football that gets fans off the edge of their seats.

They have been linked with Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka all summer, but they might strike gold by shifting their focus to England’s Kieran Trippier who reports say they could sign for just £15million. He has been sensational everywhere he’s played over the last decade. From his time at Tottenham to his stint at Atlético Madrid, where he won La Liga, and now at Newcastle United, where he’s become one of their standout players, Trippier has consistently delivered top performances.

And football runs in the Trippier family: his elder brother, Kelvin, also played the game professionally as a defender, though primarily as a centre-back, unlike Kieran, who favours the full-back position. Kelvin played for several teams in the lower leagues of English football, including Oldham Athletic, Rochdale AFC, and Barrow AFC.

There are discussions that, in the final stages of his career, the 33-year-old sees himself transitioning to a centre-back role rather than just a full-back. If West Ham were to sign him, they would be making a statement of intent by bringing in an experienced veteran who not only understands his game but can also instil the professionalism that new manager Julen Lopetegui could greatly benefit from.

West Ham have already agreed on deals for Germany international Niclas Füllkrug for £23m and Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville for around £25m, while Argentina's Guido Rodríguez has joined on a free transfer. They have also been linked to Manchester United’s Scott McTominay.

However, no signing would boost confidence and make sense quite like Trippier. He brings a wealth of experience, versatility, and an intimate knowledge of the Premier League, and he might relish a move back to London.

One of Trippier's standout qualities is his ability to deliver precise set pieces. His free-kick and corner-taking skills would add a new dimension to West Ham's attack, providing more scoring opportunities from dead-ball situations. This is an area where West Ham could greatly benefit, especially given their aerial threats like Tomas Soucek and Kurt Zouma.

For too long, West Ham has been overshadowed by teams like Tottenham, Arsenal, and Chelsea. If they want to emulate these clubs, signing players of Trippier’s calibre is a step in the right direction. He is highly respected by his teammates and considered a significant star.

On the international stage, Trippier is also a seasoned England international, with plenty of caps, and he showcased his skills by excelling for England at the recent Euros. An experienced head with enough hunger and desire to adapt and modify his game, the veteran could be exactly what the Hammers need as they enter the new Lopetegui era.
