Our verdict on the latest Premier League transfer rumours - featuring news from Chelsea, Everton, Brentford and Manchester United.

Welcome to your Tuesday morning round-up of all the biggest and boldest Premier League transfer rumours currently circulating about the global media – and we begin in London, with a story which suggests a former Arsenal and Liverpool star could be on his way back to the Premier League after a year abroad.

Sport Witness have picked up on a report from Turkey which suggests that former England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be about to leave Beşiktaş after just one season – and that Brentford have “started negotiations” with the 31-year-old over a potential transfer.

The Bees aren’t the only side looking to get hold of Oxlade-Chamberlain, however, with Ajax also reportedly interested – the two will “battle it out” to persuade him to sign. The article also speculates that Beşiktaş could allow him to leave on a free transfer despite having signed a three-year deal last summer.

The 3AM Verdict: By all accounts, Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t have an easy ride in Turkey, and although he scored four Super Lig goals he couldn’t hit his best form and picked up yet another bad injury, this time his thigh, which kept him out for a few months. That’s the biggest problem here, of course – for all his undeniable and undoubted talent, he has barely been able to play for the past few years. Still, if it does turn out to be free, there’s a solid argument that the risk/reward ratio is rock solid.

Bayern chase United man

Manchester United may have found another way to get rid of unwanted winger Jadon Sancho, if HITC have got their facts straight – according to them, he could be offered a chance to head back to the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, at least as long as the Red Devils are prepared to let him go out on loan.

Apparently Vincent Kompany’s team have “ruled out a permanent deal” for the 24-year-old, who found some of his old form on loan with Borussia Dortmund last season. That could be a problem for United, who really want him gone for good after a couple of seasons of struggle and last year’s falling out with head coach Erik ten Hag.

The 3AM Verdict: If United aren’t going to use Sancho – and they seem set on not doing so – then it makes sense to at least get his wages off the books, although at £250,000 per week it’s far from clear whether Bayern would even pay that. There isn’t much detail in the report regarding terms or timeline, which also makes us wonder about how much of an inside track there is here.

Everton after Chelsea striker

Recent reports have suggested that Chelsea could be looking into making a bid for Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but it looks like transfer dealings between the two clubs wouldn’t be a one-way street – at least, not according to TeamTalk, who reckon that the Toffees are after Frenchman David Datro Fofana.

Apparently, Everton don’t expect to do too much business before the transfer deadline because of their financial situation, but they have a shortlist of targets to go for should Calvert-Lewin leave. They’d prefer a loan deal for Datro Fofana if they do make a bid, for economic reasons. It seems as though Armando Broja might have been of interest as well but the Albanian “isn’t sold” on a move to Goodison Park.

The 3AM Verdict: The 21-year-old was hit-and-miss on loan at Burnley last year but he’s got a ton of drive, a good work ethic and the physicality to thrive in a Sean Dyche team – a loan move would, at the very least, offer some sorely-needed depth for a team which looks thin and lacking in quality right now. He’s scored goals in Norway when he was coming through the ranks but hasn’t really hit his stride at the top flight yet, so it would be a gamble, but Everton probably have to take a few given how poorly they’ve started the season.
