Matthew Gregory is a staff football writer for 3 Added Minutes, providing online news, features and opinion pieces on the Premier League and across the wider world of the sport. He also curates the Wonderkid Power Rankings and has a keen interest in talent development around the globe. He previously spent five years working with BBC Sport in Salford, where he played a key role in the delivery of two Olympics, two Commonwealth Games, a Rugby World Cup and four Wimbledons, as well as helping out with live coverage of football and countless other sporting events. He has also freelanced for a variety of magazines and websites including The Blizzard and When Saturday Comes and has worked in local news media with BBC Newcastle. As a youngster, he was a freestyle gold medallist at the junior national swimming championships, but now restricts his athletic endeavours to playing Sunday league cricket – usually quite badly. He’s a lifelong Blackburn Rovers fan, as well as a supporter of Sussex CCC and the Carolina Panthers. Also a keen hiker, when he isn’t being clean bowled for a single-digit score or shouting incoherently at Blackburn players, he can most likely be found somewhere up a mountain in the Lake District. He lives in Gateshead.
