The brilliant free transfer that would see Chelsea repeat genius Thiago Silva trick
Paula Pogba and Juventus will soon part ways, leaving the French midfielder a free agent who can join any club to try and resurrect his career. Pogba will likely attract interest from French clubs, and given the chance to return home, he might be tempted to take it.
However, there could still be a place for him in the Premier League, where his skill set could be an asset for Chelsea as they look to build a team capable of winning the Europa Conference League and competing for a top-four spot in the Premier League.

Hide AdPogba is a World Cup winner, and at the peak of his powers, few players could match his ability to pick a pass. He also has the athleticism to thrive in the Premier League and dominate teams. While Chelsea’s midfield is crowded, Pogba possesses qualities that none of their current players have.
The last time Chelsea signed a player as a free agent, it was Thiago Silva, who initially joined on a short-term deal but ended up staying for four years and helping them win the Champions League, among other trophies.
Every top team needs experienced players who have "been there and done it before", players who can provide guidance and serve as reference points for younger teammates. It would also be intriguing to see Pogba team up with Moisés Caicedo, even if only in Conference League matches.
Chelsea have often struggled with transitions and have attempted to address this by pushing defenders into midfield to create overloads. With Pogba, however, they would have a midfielder capable of dominating lesser teams. The club could even offer him a short-term contract, and if he proves himself, they could extend it.

Hide AdI really like what Chelsea are doing at the moment, they’re brilliant at what they do, but even with all the good work, there’s an opportunity here to improve without having to spend a lot. A player like Pogba, with his experience and skill set, could help take the team to the next level.
The start to the season has been better than expected, but there’s still a sense that something is missing, and the team could benefit from adding some experience. In fact, the Chelsea manager himself admitted that he was hoping for more from club captain Reece James. “I expected more in terms of leadership,” the manager said when discussing leadership qualities within the team.
In today’s market, players like Pogba would typically cost around £100 million given his experience and skill set. So, it would be a no-brainer for the club to seize the opportunity to sign one of the best midfielders in the world for free.
