The Premier League rarely ever sleeps and recent results have had fans glued to the edge of their seats as they frantically try to predict who will claim the title, be relegated and secure European football next season.

The weeks are ticking by but the competition is still wide open with very little room for mistakes throughout the table. Each club’s fate will determine how well they can recruit once the summer transfer window opens for business. As the drama continues, let’s take a look at some of the latest Premier League transfer headlines.

Liverpool star enters talks over ‘bumper’ new deal

Liverpool are heading into a big period of change as Jurgen Klopp prepares to say his goodbyes to the club he has served for nine years. Not only are the Reds now on the market for his replacement but they have some serious player business to consider in the summer as well.

Three key players are approaching the final 12 months of their contracts and unless the club act now, they are all at risk of leaving Anfield for free next year. Trent Alexander-Arnold is among those with his terms expiring in 2025 but fortunately for the fans, Liverpool are ‘in talks’ with the vice-captain over a ‘bumper’ new deal, according to Football Insider.

Alexander-Arnold himself is keen to put pen to paper and commit his future to his boyhood club, despite recent interest from Real Madrid.

The 3AM Verdict: This summer is going to be an anxious one for Liverpool fans as a future without Klopp is a very alien concept. Concerns over players taking this opportunity to leave have also reared their heads, so knowing Alexander-Arnold is in talks over a new contract will be very comforting news. Supporters have almost accepted that Mohamed Salah is headed for the door, as he too is out of contract next year, but losing a homegrown player like Alexander-Arnold would be a very tough pill to swallow. Having him commit his future will surely calm a lot of nerves ahead of this new era.

Man United prepare for hefty loss

Manchester United also have a big summer ahead of them as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to spearhead a reshuffle within the senior squad, which could see a number of household names placed on the chopping block. The Red Devils are looking to make room on the wage bill for their own new recruits, as this season has been far from the ideal run of form so far.

One man who is likely headed for the door this summer is Jadon Sancho, who is currently out on loan with former side Borussia Dortmund. Both the player and club are keen to make the move permanent but United’s asking price is proving to be tricky, despite the Reds looking for significantly less than what they signed him for just three years ago.

According to Sky Sports Germany, United want at least €40 million (£34m) to sign off on a permanent Sancho move. This would see them record a £39 million loss on the winger, who they splashed £73 million on in 2021 amid the peak of his popularity.

The 3AM Verdict: Despite being 24 and still in a position to command a lot of money, it seems the ties between United and Sancho are well and truly severed following his fallout with Erik ten Hag. The struggling Reds need money in the pot for their summer restructure and Sancho is searching for a club that will give him the playing time he needs to return to his best form. Unfortunately, it seems as though United have no choice but to slash his asking price and take the upcoming loss on the chin.
