Alexander-Arnold himself is keen to put pen to paper and commit his future to his boyhood club, despite recent interest from Real Madrid.

Man United prepare for hefty loss

Manchester United also have a big summer ahead of them as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to spearhead a reshuffle within the senior squad, which could see a number of household names placed on the chopping block. One man who is likely headed for the door this summer is Jadon Sancho, who is currently out on loan with former side Borussia Dortmund. Both the player and club are keen to make the move permanent but United’s asking price is proving to be tricky, despite the Reds looking for significantly less than what they signed him for just three years ago.

According to Sky Sports Germany, United want at least €40 million (£34m) to sign off on a permanent Sancho move. This would see them record a £39 million loss on the winger, who they splashed £73 million on in 2021 amid the peak of his popularity.

The 3AM Verdict: Despite being 24 and still in a position to command a lot of money, it seems the ties between United and Sancho are well and truly severed following his fallout with Erik ten Hag.
