Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi was without question one of England’s stars during their run to the Euro 2024 Final. The former Chelsea centre-back always seemed to be part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the tournament - but he may have been forced to watch on from the bench had Harry Maguire’s injury problems not prevented him from securing a place on the place. Guehi, to his credit, has seized his opportunity with both hands and produced a number of positive displays alongside Manchester City star John Stones.
Although highly-rated by several clubs across the Premier League and around Europe, Guehi is now reportedly set to receive an offer from Liverpool after transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano ‘confirmed’ the Reds had been monitoring his progress ‘for a long time’ - although he also revealed negotiations with Palace would be ‘a different story’.

Hide AdSpeaking on his PlayBack Live transfer show, he said: "Marc Guehi has been linked with Liverpool. I can tell you that Liverpool have been scouting the player for a long time. He's a player they like, for sure. But at the moment, I can tell you that Liverpool are negotiating for Marc Guehi, because at the moment, the situation is quiet around him. Obviously there is the Euros, so after the Euros, we will see the appreciation of Liverpool for the player. I can confirm to you, but not only Liverpool - there are also other clubs, for example Arsenal and many others who appreciate the player. But in terms of the bid, in terms of the negotiations, it is a different story."
The 3AM Verdict: It is no surprise to see Guehi linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks after he impressed at the Euros. However, it would take a sizeable bid to even tempt Palace into selling the defender and they could well point to Everton’s lofty demands for Jarrad Branthwaite as a start point for their own negotiations.
Serie A ace deals blow to Magpies and Hammers
Newcastle United and West Ham United are both reportedly keen to bolster their defensive ranks during the summer transfer window.

The Magpies are likely to be without centre-back duo Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles until November and they have been linked with several defender in recent weeks. The same can be said of West Ham as Julen Lopetegui looks to continue adding to his options at the back after completing a deal to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back Max Kilman. Both clubs were said to be considering a move for Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti after he impressed for the Serie A giants in recent seasons - but the Italy international is said to have turned down all approaches according to Italian news outlet TuttoSport.

Hide AdThe report suggests new Juventus head coach Thiago Motta has held talks with the former Frosinone star to reaffirm his admiration for the defender and confirm how he intends to use him during his first season in charge of the club.
The 3AM Verdict: A deal to sign Gatti always seemed unlikely for both Newcastle and West Ham and it seems the knockout blow was delivered by Motta after he gave assurances to the defender in their recent talks.

The former MK Dons star scored 19 goals and provided 18 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions last season as Brendan Rodgers’ side saw off a challenge from arch rivals Rangers to claim the title. O’Riley’s displays reportedly brought interest from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid midway through the season and the likes of Atalanta, Southampton and Everton have also been linked with a big money move for the midfielder. However, TEAMtalk have now claimed Premier League newcomers Leicester City are the front-runners to secure a deal for O’Riley - although the Foxes will have to pay out over £25million before the Hoops will agree to a sale.

Leicester’s recruitment drive ahead of their return to the top flight is starting to gather pace and the midfielder seems a strong fit for the Foxes.
