Our verdict on the latest Premier League transfer rumours - featuring news from Manchester United, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.

Welcome to your Friday digest of all the biggest and boldest Premier League transfer rumours that have caught our eye as they do the global media rounds over the last 24 hours – and we start the rounds today with the latest potential updates from Manchester United.

The Old Trafford club are, of course, doing their level best to find new clubs for big-money flops Antony, who set the club back a reported £86m when he arrived from Ajax, and Casemiro, who is being paid £350,000 per week while his performance levels come under fire following the dismal 3-0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend – but according to HITC, United’s best-laid plans are not coming to fruition.

They claim that the pair have both turned down the opportunity to go on loan to Galatasaray, who are currently in the process of hoovering up Europe’s unwanted talent due to their later deadline day. Apparently they are both “not keen” on leaving England “at this moment in time.” Both players, it seems, have made it clear that they want to stay, even if the club have made it pretty clear that they would rather they didn’t.

The 3AM Verdict: These were always going to be tough deals to get over the line. Galatasaray lack the clout to appeal to players at a club the size of Manchester United and lack the cash to make the finances easy to figure out, too. It looks more and more as though both players will hang about at Old Trafford until January, at least.

Man City line up double Bundesliga bid

News now from the other half of Manchester, with Spanish outlet Fichajes claiming that champions Manchester City have set an “ambitious” transfer plan in motion for next summer which will see them attempt a double swoop for Bayern Munich stars Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich.

Apparently Kimmich is seen as “the ideal replacement for Rodri,” although it’s not made very clear where Rodri would be that he might need replacing, but they do claim that Pep Guardiola wants to strengthen his midfield and add depth. No transfer fees are mentioned.

The 3AM Verdict: Not that we have any difficulty believing that a City scout has compiled a report on either player at some point, but Fichajes have a pretty dubious track record and there is a definite lack of detail in this story. We wouldn’t advise Manchester City fans to get too excited on this basis.

Inter in for Forest starlet

Finally some news which may not be too pleasing for Nottingham Forest fans – Sport Witness have picked up on reports from Italy which suggest that Inter Milan could be preparing a bid for Brazilian centre-back Murillo, with the 22-year-old seen as a long-term replacement for Francesco Acerbi.

Apparently Inter are interested despite accepting that Murillo would likely cost “well over” €40m (£33.7m) and “even that could be an understatement.” The article notes that having him under contract until 2028 does mean that Forest are in a strong bargaining position, but when big clubs comes after smaller sides’ stars, they usually get what they want eventually, and Inter seem to see Murillo as a “complete and effective” defender.

The 3AM Verdict: The rumours linking Murillo with a move away continue to grow in number and draw in new clubs – unfortunately, we can’t see the talented centre-half staying at the City Ground for much longer, but whether the Inter story is genuine or not remains to be seen. The sourcing seems slightly thin to us, coming as it does from an Inter website which doesn’t offer its own explanation for where the story comes from. That’s usually a red flag.
