Manchester United will be eager to build on a tetchy midweek Premier League win over struggling Sheffield United with a similarly vital victory over fellow relegation candidates Burnley on Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils had to twice come from behind against the Blades before finally securing all three points courtesy of goals from Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, and Rasmus Hojlund.

That result leaves Erik ten Hag’s side sixth in the table, three points clear of Newcastle United, but a full seven behind Tottenham Hotspur above them with just five games left to play. After facing Burnley this weekend, the Red Devils’ final four matches of the campaign are against Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Arsenal, and Brighton.

As for Burnley, they continue to battle against the drop, and have dragged themselves to within three points of safety after suffering just one defeat in their last five matches. Last weekend they beat Sheffield United 4-1, and will be quietly convinced that they have what it takes to enact a great escape of sorts.

But how will both sides line up at Turf Moor on Saturday? We’ve taken a closer look at their respective team news, as well their predicted starting XIs, below...

Manchester United Team News

United continue to be plagued by injuries, especially in defence. At centre-back Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof are out, while Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans are both doubts this weekend. Willy Kambwala is unavailable due to an undisclosed reason. On the left flank, things are not much better, with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia sidelined. Speaking about this Dutchman recently, Ten Hag said: 'It's going to be difficult for him this season to be available. He will fight. He's back on the pitch, but not in the team and the process had setbacks. He's going forwards really slowly.'

Further forward, Mason Mount is struggling with a muscular injury, and Anthony Martial might not feature again this season as he continues his recovery from groin surgery. Speaking recently, Ten Hag said: 'I don't know [if he will play again before his contract expires]. He's still with the medical [department]. He's out on the pitch, but if he will be available, I don't know.'

Marcus Rashford is likely to face a late assessment, but has a much greater chance of making United’s match day squad than many on this list.

Manchester United Predicted XI

Andre Onana; Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Aaron Wan-Bissaka; Kobbie Mainoo, Scott McTominay; Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford; Rasmus Hojlund.

Burnley Team News

For their part, Burnley are dealing with a number of long term injury absences at the time of writing. Aaron Ramsey is not expected back until later in the year, while defenders Jordan Beyer and Ameen Al-Dakhil are likely to miss the rest of the season. Experienced winger Nathan Redmond finds himself in a similar position.

Promising forward Luca Koleosho is understood to be aiming for a comeback in early May, but there is better news regarding Lyle Foster, who should recover from a knock in time to face United on Saturday afternoon.

Burnley Predicted XI

Arijanet Muric; Lorenz Assignon. Dara O’Shea, Maxime Estève, Charlie Taylor; Vitinho, Josh Cullen, Sander Berge, Jacob Bruun Larsen; Lyle Foster, Wilson Odobert.
