Where Newcastle can strengthen to get more out of the season and fight for Champions League.

Newcastle United look to have turned things around following a slow start to the season. With no European commitments, fans and media expected them to be competing for a Champions League spot, but they are currently eighth in the league standings.

Having gone five games without a win in the Premier League, they have managed to beat title contenders Arsenal and high-flying Nottingham Forest in front of their home fans.

The Newcastle United team seems to be on the rise, but in a relentlessly competitive division like the English Premier League, even the best teams do not rest on their laurels. Eddie Howe needs to go shopping in January to ensure his team maintains their form.

The team looks solid in midfield, where the coach prefers box-to-box, energetic midfielders. However, what the team seems to lack is creativity. They are overly reliant on the left side of attack for creative output.

The Toon Army have Barnes and Gordon as natural left wingers, but the right side has been neglected. Their best player, Isak, often drifts wide left, which shows just how fixated the team is on the left for creativity in attack. This makes Newcastle predictable. The team is crying out for a left-footed right winger to take some of the burden off the right side, and the answer could be Samuel Chukwueze of AC Milan.

Jacob Murphy and Joelinton do their best when deployed on the right, but their contributions are average compared to what the left side offers. Chukwueze, a Nigerian wide man, is one of the best dribblers in the game, but he has had to settle for a limited starting role at Milan, not because he isn't good, but because he competes with Christian Pulisic, unless the coach prefers the American as the number 10.

Chukwueze would do a lot to help Newcastle United solve their right-wing dilemma. Reports in the Italian media suggest that AC Milan are willing to listen to offers for the Nigerian. Milan signed him from La Liga side Villarreal for £20 million, a price that shouldn't scare a Premier League club aiming for a return to the UEFA Champions League, even if Milan still seeks that same amount for him.

Given Milan's usual efforts to balance their books, a reasonable offer from Newcastle could secure this gem. Samuel Chukwueze is only 25 and has an impressive CV from his time at Villarreal. He would also have a considerable re-sale value should Newcastle sign him and later decide to sell further along the line. At that price, it’s a deal that simply must be considered.
