It promises to be a busy summer on Tyneside, as does just about every summer from here on out. Newcastle United have money to spend and an inclination to spend it, and if the Magpies are to properly establish themselves as one of the most fearsome sides in the country, then a barrage of recruitment over the coming years is likely to be the most efficient way of ensuring that ambition becomes a reality.

But there is a catch, of course. The pesky limitations of Financial Fair Play continue to prevent the Geordies from fully revelling in their newfound status as the richest club in world football, and to that end, it may well be the case that Newcastle have to offload a few notable first team players before they are truly able to flex their financial might.

With that in mind, we've taken a look at Eddie Howe's squad below, and picked out a handful of names who could be destined for the exit door between now and the end of August. All transfer values have been taken from Transfermarkt, for the sake of uniformity, so if you happen to wildly disagree with any of them, dear reader, blame them, not us...

Miguel Almiron - £25.7 million

How will Miguel Almiron be remembered by the Toon Army in years to come, when his time on Tyneside has long since passed? Will he be regarded as a cult hero - a busy, scrappy enigma who stole hearts with his slapstick endeavour, like a Paraguayan Mr. Bean? Or will he be reviled as a paragon of wasted potential, of frustration made flesh and baffling moments of inexplicable jelly-leggedness? It is hard to say for certain, but as Newcastle look to build themselves an attack capable of consistently competing in European competition, you suspect that the South American could be one of the next big names they quietly shuffle out of the exit door.

Callum Wilson - £11.1 million

Callum Wilson may already have played his final match for Newcastle United. The England striker is currently recovering from pectoral surgery, and between his process of rehabilitation and a looming contract expiration, there is every chance that his race at St. James' Park is already run. At the present moment in time, it feels as if the Magpies' two options are to sell him this summer or lose him on a free transfer in 12 months' time, and given the plethora of strikers they continue to be linked with, it would be no surprise to see them opt for the former course of action.

Sean Longstaff - £21.4 million

There has been talk of Newcastle off-loading a central midfielder in an effort to balance their books a little better in recent months, but ordinarily, such chatter relates to Brazilian talisman Bruno Guimaraes. Of course, no Geordie in their right mind would want their beloved number 39 to leave any time soon, and as such, perhaps other players could be offered up as sacrifices instead. Longstaff, that local lad done good, feels like an outside shout for a possible summer exit. Like Wilson, his contract expires in 2025, and like Almiron, you suspect that when push comes to shove, he might not be the man to lead the Magpies' charge in Europe, season after season. Perhaps a touch less likely than those mentioned above, but still a possibility.
