Exclusive:Exclusive: Bayern Munich legend drops verdict on ex-Spurs star Harry Kane and reveals Thomas Muller concern

Bastian Schweinsteiger has given his verdict on Thomas Müller’s Bayern Munich exit this summer and Harry Kane’s Bundesliga impact

Bayern Munich legend, Bastian Schweinsteiger, thinks that replacing Thomas Müller will prove to be very difficult this summer.

The 35-year-old won the Bundesliga for the 13th time this season, but it will be his last campaign for the German giants after it was confirmed that he will be moving on when his current contract expires. He will leave with 503 appearances, 150 goals and 211 assists for his boyhood club.

Schweinsteiger, who played alongside Müller for both club and country, believes that it’s not just his ability on the pitch that will be missed, explaining that his role as a ‘local’ has been a big part of his success since breaking through almost two decades ago.

Bastian Schweinsteiger on ‘the gap’ Thomas Müller’s exit will leave

“Without him it will definitely change something at Bayern,” he told 3 Added Minutes during Heineken’s Champions League Trophy Tour. “Because he’s the kind of player who is not only very vocal on the pitch, but off it as well. He means a lot to the team, to the club, but also for the supporters. He’s a local player, so that will be the most difficult part for Bayern Munich, actually, to find a similar character who can come in and close that gap.”

Meanwhile, the World Cup and UCL winner also gave his verdict on Harry Kane’s time in Munich, outlining his hope that his former club can become continental champions once again with the England captain leading the line.

Harry Kane living up to the hype

“He’s definitely lived up to expectations, he’s scored a lot of goals, and has won the Bundesliga title - the first of his career. Obviously the Champions League was a disappointment that they couldn’t go on and play the final in Munich, so that’s sad. But there will still be next season.”

Kane has a remarkable record in Germany so far, scoring 82 goals and getting 25 assists in just 91 games, and after lifting the first major trophy of his career he’ll be desperate to add more to his cabinet in season number three with Die Roten. Who knows, there might even be another one to come this summer as he and his side head Stateside for the FIFA Club World Cup.
