Maddison, Udogie and Tosin: Tottenham injury news update and return dates as crisis sees eight stars out

The latest Spurs injury list and potential return dates ahead of their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur hit back at their critics in emphatic style last weekend, after they secured a comprehensive 2-0 win against rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The north London side picked up a vital three Premier League points after a tough start to the season, and will be looking to push forward and continue rising up the table in the coming weeks.

As things stand, Roberto De Zerbi’s side lie 14th in the Premier League table after eight games, but with eminently winnable fixtures against the likes of Fulham, Ipswich Town and Sunderland on the horizon, the opportunity to truly turn a corner is very much there. Next up, Spurs host Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Saturday night.

With De Zerbi’s men already knocked out of the Carabao Cup, they will benefit from a full week’s rest with no midweek football to concern them. Heading into this weekend, however, there are a number of injury concerns for the club to sweat over. Here is the latest Tottenham injury news update ahead of their clash against Crystal Palace.

How long will Maddison be out for?

Spurs star James Maddison came off with a groin injury at Stamford Bridge, in a deeply frustrating blow after missing the bulk of last season with a cruciate ligament tear and a portion of the current campaign with a shoulder injury. His potential return date is currently unknown, as Spurs continue to assess the seven-cap England international.

Meanwhile, summer signing Tosin Adarabioyo came off in his side’s 2-1 win over Coventry City with a calf injury, and missed the subsequent trip to Stamford Bridge to face his former side. He was close to making the squad, however, and could return to in time to face Palace when they visit on Saturday.

Tottenham loan signing Mykhailo Mudryk looks unlikely to return in the six to eight weeks timeframe that was initially given for his ankle injury. As things stand, he may have to wait until after the next international break to play for Spurs again, most likely against Ipswich Town on 21st November, or Sunderland on 29th November.

When will Udogie be back from injury?

Destiny Udogie missed the win against Chelsea with a knee injury, with De Zerbi revealing that his fellow Italian was in too much pain to feature. He did hint that the defender could be back this week, however, and he could well be in a position to snatch his starting spot back from Andy Robertson against Crystal Palace.

Midfielder Lucas Bergvall - who looked like he would leave Spurs over the summer before eventually signing a new deal - is also currently sidelined with a knee injury. Don’t expect to see him back until next month, with Spurs’ trip to Leeds United on November 7th potentially a game he could feature in. Savio is set to be out until after the international break with a muscular complaint.

There are also two long-term injury concerns that are unlikely to be resolved before the start of the new year. Wilson Odobert suffered a ruptured ACL last February, and may have to wait until early January to get back on the field. Netherlands star Xavi Simons has the same injury on the opposite knee, and could be out until early March as things stand.
