Manchester United follow their thrilling last-gasp victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers with a trip to the London Stadium to take on David Moyes’ West Ham United on Sunday afternoon, and Erik ten Hag is set to be able to pick his strongest squad yet with several important players back from injury or closing in on match fitness.

The hosts, meanwhile, will go into the game with a rather more familiar squad than many expected after a chaotic transfer deadline day saw one deal fall through with the status of another up in the air – but Moyes may at least be able to call upon centre-half Nayef Aguerd once more after Morocco’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign ended in the round of 16.

West Ham team news

Key centre-back Aguerd should be available for selection after Morocco were defeated by South Africa at AFCON 2023 earlier in the week, while Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus was already back in the line-up for the 1-1 draw against Bournemouth on Thursday.

Further up the field, Moyes is expected to have to make do without Lucas Paquetá, who has yet to return to first-team training following a calf injury, and Saïd Benrahma, whose deadline day move to Lyon collapsed at the last minute – the Algerian winger remains suspended following his straight red card against Bristol City in the FA Cup. The status of Pablo Fornals is also in doubt, with both West Ham and Real Betis waiting to find out if the paperwork was properly processed on a deal which would see the Spanish midfielder join Betis for £6.8m.

Jamaican striker Michail Antonio is getting closer to a return following a medial ligament injury sustained in training, but is unlikely to get further than the bench this weekend – which means that Jarrod Bowen is likely to continue to hold the fort up front. Vladimír Coufal, who missed the game against Bournemouth through suspension, is available again.

West Ham predicted line-up

Areola; Emerson, Zouma, Aguerd, Coufal; Souček, Phillips, Ward-Prowse; Álvarez, Kudus, Bowen.

Manchester United team news

The visitors welcomed both Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire back for the 4-3 win over Wolves, while Casemiro and Lisandro Martínez both made their first starts after injury lay-offs – all four are expected to be fully fit for the game against West Ham.

We are still awaiting updates on the condition of Victor Lindelöf, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Mason Mount, who are all back in training but didn’t make the matchday squad at the Molineux Stadium. Wan-Bissaka is believed to be closest to a return to action.

Tyrell Malacia (knee) and Anthony Martial (groin) are both out, although the Dutch left-back is believed to be closing in on a long-awaited return. Martial will be out for another five weeks after undergoing surgery for his injury. In more positive news, the Red Devils should be able to call upon Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat once more.

Manchester United predicted line-up

Onana; Shaw, Martínez, Varane, Dalot; Casemiro, McTominay, Fernandes; Rashford, Højlund, Garnacho.
