Wolverhampton Wanderers will hope to return to winning ways as they prepare to take on in-form Championship side Ipswich Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The tough-looking trip to Portman Road will provide O’Neil with a major conundrum as he looks to balance handing valuable game-time to several members of his squad with attempting to claim a win that would boost confidence in his ranks after a difficult start to the season.

Hide AdSaturday’s 1-1 draw at Luton Town means Wolves have won just one of their six league games so far and will sit just two places and three points above the relegation zone as they turn their attention towards their cup tie in Suffolk.
The competition provided O’Neil’s men with one of the few high points of the campaign so far as a Matt Doherty brace and a goal apiece from Sasa Kalajdzic, Fabio Silva and Nathan Fraser helped Wolves to a 5-0 win over Blackpool after a dominating display against the League One club.
By contrast, Ipswich are in fine form and their dramatic 4-3 weekend win over Blackburn Rovers means they have lost just one of their opening eight games of the season and are only kept from the top of the Championship table by an inferior goal difference to current leaders Leicester City.
Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News
Wolves boss O’Neil is not too far short of a full strength squad for the game at Portman Road. Midfielder Joe Hodge remains unavailable as he works his way back from the muscle injury he suffered in the previous round and summer signing Jean-Ricnar Bellegarde is also out after he was shown a red card in the weekend draw at Luton Town.
