Turkish outlet Karar have claimed the Magpies have already held a meeting with Guler’s family and will hold a second over the next week as they look to sign a player that has been described as the ‘Turkish Messi’.

The report also claims Napoli have made securing the signing of a replacement for the centre-back at the top of their list of priorities as they look to defend their title and push for success in other competitions when the new season gets underway in August.

And to continue and thankfully bring to an end this rather laboured game show theme, Arsenal are said to be leading ‘The Chase’ for Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey as they look to solve one key issue within Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Ben White was a regular on the right-hand side of the Gunners back-four last season as Takehiro Tomiyasu endured an injury-hit campaign. Turkish outlet Turkiye Gazetesi have claimed Arsenal have moved to resolve the issue by submitting an opening bid of around £17m for the French defender and described the Gunners as ‘determined to finalise the transfer’ in the near future.

The 22-year-old made 32 appearances in all competitions as Galatasaray claimed the Super Lig title ahead of arch rivals Fenerbahce in recent weeks but it remains to be seen whether the former France youth international will be part of their title defence next season.
