Fantasy Premier League team names: 40 genuinely funny names to stand out this season

As the new season hoves into view and clubs desperately scramble to stop Saudi Arabia from buying every last player they have, so a new Fantasy Premier League season begins as well - and that means it’s time to pick your team names.

Naturally, we’ll be offering up all the FPL tactical advice and insight you could possibly ask for in the build up to the big kick-off (and indeed we’ve already started - take a look at some of the links at the bottom of the article if you’d like). But with only a week or so to go, we all know what the priority is - making our mates chuckle with a perfectly-pitched pun.

And let’s be honest, most people are rubbish at this. The majority of the puns which grace our work leagues are either desperately laboured or so old that they’re ready to be taken out the back and shot. Do you really want to go into the new season with the name Gangster’s Allardyce for the 13th consecutive season? Don’t you want to be at least a little bit funnier than the guy who tries to come up with something “witty” based around Robin Koch’s surname? He isn’t even in the league any more, but you can bet that poor Sean Longstaff is getting dragged into it this year.
