The latest Arsenal injury news and expected return dates ahead of their Premier League showdown with Nottingham Forest.

With the international break almost over, it’s nearly time for Arsenal to get back to business – but they still have several injury worries hanging over their heads as they prepare for their Premier League showdown with high-flying Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka both withdrew from the England squad ahead of their recent Nations League matches with injury scares, and they’re among seven players carrying potential fitness problems into the next round of top-flight games.

We’ve got all the latest injury updates for Mikel Arteta’s side below, along with estimated return dates when they’re available.

Bukayo Saka

The skilful winger is vital to Arsenal’s attacking output but has given Arteta a fresh scare after limping out of the recent 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the last ten minutes. That knock precipitated his withdrawal from Lee Carsley’s squad for the games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland.

There have been no further updates on his condition from the club, but The Daily Mail are reporting that Saka was back at London Colney undergoing rehabilitation work and is “expected” to be available to play against Forest.

Declan Rice

Rice played through the pain of a broken toe until the 71st minute against Chelsea, but alongside Saka was forced to stand down from international duty following further assessment. As with Saka, there has been no official word on Rice’s progress, but he too was mentioned in the Mail’s report as likely to be back in time for Saturday’s match.

Ben White

The right-back has been playing through a knee injury in recent weeks and underwent a minor surgical procedure to correct it last week. The club have yet to confirm how long he is expected to be out for, but London newspaper The Evening Standard claims that there is “speculation” that he could be sidelined for up to eight weeks, which would put him out of action until the New Year.

Leandro Trossard

More bad news coming out of the international break is that versatile forward Leandro Trossard has sustained an unspecified injury during Belgium’s shock 1-0 Nations League defeat to Belgium. Trossard was substituted in the first half as a result, and no prognosis is available at the time of publishing.

Riccardo Calafiori

The summer signing has missed the last five Arsenal matches and wasn’t included in Italy’s squad for the recent games against Belgium and France, all thanks to a knee issue of his own. When the injury was first announced, Arteta told the media that he would be unavailable “for a few weeks”, which implies that he should be back in action soon and has a good chance of featuring against Forest.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Another defender with issues and another knee that’s the source of the problem – Tomiyasu has been limited to just six minutes of Premier League action by a pair of injuries, and Arsenal have kept details of his recovery close to their chest. Arteta said after his most recent injury that he wasn’t expected to be out for long, but he hasn’t been since a month later.

Kieran Tierney

Arsenal’s forgotten man may not have much of a role to play for the Gunners this season, but is finally closing in on a return having missed several months thanks to a serious hamstring injury sustained on international duty at Euro 2024. Arteta said he was “quite close” and could return to training within the next week or two. He is currently undergoing light fitness work.
