The stunning £180m signing Arsenal must complete to win the Premier League title

The are so many reasons why the Newcastle United striker will fire the Gunners close to the title.

Reports linking Alexander Isak to Arsenal won't go away, and today the Daily Express is reporting that the Swedish striker is one of five players Newcastle are willing to listen to offers for as they look to stay within Premier League Profit and Sustainability rules and crucially reduce their wage bill.

Arsenal seem to be the name that pops up when they talk about the former Real Sociedad player and there is real reason for that. The Gunners already have Gabriel Jesus and spent a lot of money on Kai Havertz, who enjoyed an encouraging first season with 13 goals and seven assists as the North London club came close to winning their first league title since the Invincible season of 2003/04.

However, there just seems to be something missing - a true number nine. The Gunners need a player who is able to put away chances and scare off defenders, even before a ball is kicked. That man is Alexander Isak, and with the Magpies looking to sell, there is no better time to go for him than now. He's Premier League-proven and last season underlined his credentials as one of the league's top strikers with 21 goals. Only Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Chelsea’s breakout star Cole Palmer scored more than him.

The nature of his goals were quite impressive too, as he has the ability to create a chance for himself, and his movement is outstanding for someone who is 6ft 4in. To add to his impressive ability, Isak is relatively young, still aged just 24, so there is every possibility that he can develop his game even further under the guidance of Mikel Arteta. A lot of players have taken their game to the next level under the Spanish manager and Isak would benefit from playing and working under someone like Mikel, whose attention to detail is reportedly second to none.

One of the reasons the rumours won’t seem to go away is that his style of play - strength, and footballing vision align with the way Arsenal play. He’s tall but very mobile and he enjoys the kind of game where a striker is not just a target man but one who is involved in play and initiates the press. However, he might not come cheap with reports back in May claiming Newcastle had put a £180m price tag on Isak to ward off potential suitors.

Players like Victor Osimhen were briefly linked, but it became clear that he would not suit the style of play at the Emirates. Isak, however, would likely have a modest wage and could fit in straight away. He’s got everything to be an absolute champion and can be the difference between winning the Premier League and coming second again. Simply put, goals win you games and winning games leads to winning trophies.

Mikel, he’s your man. The great Arsenal side that last won the league had Thierry Henry leading the line and if Mikel wants to be the man who finally brings the trophy home, he must break the bank for the Swedish striker.
