Konsa, Onana & Ramsey: Aston Villa injury news and return dates ahead of Fulham match
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
Aston Villa return to Premier League action when they face Marco Silva’s Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday – but Unai Emery may have to make the trip without as many as seven first-team players thanks to injury.
Ezri Konsa and Amadou Onana both withdrew from their respective international squads with fitness concerns and the Villans didn’t make it through the break without problems, either, with at least one player facing a potential lay-off thanks to a knock picked up while away with their country. We’ve got updates on all of Aston Villa’s injured players below alongside their expected return dates when known.

Hide AdEzri Konsa
The 26-year-old defender was forced to withdraw from interim England head coach Lee Carsley’s Nations League squad thanks to a hamstring injury picked up during the 0-0 draw against Manchester United. The injury is not believed to be serious, with a likely absence of around two weeks – that means there is some chance that he recovers in time to face Fulham, but it’s more likely that we see Konsa return for the game against Bournemouth a week later.
Amadou Onana
The summer signing missed the game against Manchester United thanks to a hamstring issue of his own and subsequently missed out on Belgium’s international matches. He will be a doubt for the trip down to London and may face a late fitness test, but there is a good chance that he is able to play at least some part against the Cottagers.
Jacob Ramsey
Ramsey has had a number of injury issues this year and missed the end of the season with persistent foot and toe issues – and having played his first full 90 minutes of Premier League football of the season against Ipswich Town, he was then forced to miss the Manchester United match with a groin problem which, like Onana, he picked up in the historic win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The injury is not believed to be serious, but he remains touch and go for the trip to Fulham.
John McGinn
A hamstring injury has kept McGinn out of the last three Villa matches and prevented him from joining up with the Scotland squad over the past week as well. Sadly, the hamstring strain is worse than first feared and he is unlikely to be able to take part this weekend – no specific timeline has been provided by the club but barring setbacks he should be back by the end of October.

Having several players miss out on international duty didn’t prevent Villa from getting through the break unscathed – England Under-21 international Philogene-Bidace is now a doubt for the weekend with The Athletic reporting (paywalled) that he picked up a knock while playing in the European Championship qualifier against Ukraine. The exact nature of the injury is unclear but The Athletic’s report suggested it was at least “not as bad as first feared.”
Tyrone Mings & Boubacar Kamara
Two players in the same boat here – both Mings and Kamara have been out for a long time thanks to ACL injuries (over a year now in Mings’ case) but they are both back in first-team training as they continue to build up fitness ahead of a return. Both players came through 45 minutes with the Under-21s side recently, and could be back in action at some stage this month, although they are likely to be eased back into things gradually. A place on the bench against Fulham for either is possible, if not necessarily probable.
