A ‘classic’ or ‘rotten’? New Celtic third kit for 2025/26 revealed to mixed reviews

Celtic’s new third kit for the 2025/26 season has been released - do a decidedly mixed response.

Celtic’s brand new third kit for the forthcoming 2025/26 Scottish Premiership season has been revealed – and it has, to say the very least, received a mixed response from their fans.

The white, pale green and gold kit, which is described as intended to reflect the club’s “Irish roots” is now available to purchase after it was unveiled on Friday morning, following hot on the heel of the home and away kits, which were released after having previously been leaked online. But not everyone who supports Celtic is a fan of the new look…

What Celtic’s new third kit for the 2025/26 kit looks like

As the social media posts above reveal, the new third kit is certainly a little different. White with pale green blended in across the chest and sleeves using a ‘tie dye’ effect, with thin bands of gold along the flanks, collar and sleeve trim, the new shirt will be the first predominantly white jersey to be worn by Celtic’s player since the 2021/22 third kit.

With the colours loosely mimicking those of the Irish tricolour, the club’s release describes the new kit as celebrating the “unbreakable bonds” with an Irish heritage that is “firmly planted in football folkore.”

The shirt, with its “eye-catching pastel shades”, as the release describes them, is designed by Adidas, who are now into their seventh year as the Scottish side’s kit manufacturer.

While many third kits designed by the German clothing giant for the coming season have featured their alternate trefoil logo, this one simply has the more usual logo, but does feature the more minimalist alternate club shamrock crest, which doesn’t feature on either the home or away shirts.

The kit is available to purchase in Celtic’s club shop and online now, with prices for adult tops starting at £75.

A ‘classic’ or ‘rotten? Fans react to new Celtic kit

The initial response from fans to the new jersey has been extremely mixed, with responses on social media suggesting that the new third shirt is distinctly divisive.

As one supporter was is plainly less than keen put it: “We should start letting the kids redesign our kits – they’d do a better job”. Among the other negative reviews, at least those that are printable, are comments describing the shirt as “rotten”, “absolutely horrific” and “a social experiment”.

The naysayers seem to be in a majority based on the early comments, but the new shirt does have its fans, with some supporters calling it a “belter” and a “classic”. Their voices don’t seem to be quite as loud as the detractors, admittedly.

Other fans took Celtic and Adidas to task over the pricing, questioning the £75 price tag, a persistent bone of contention for fans of many teams this season as a number of high-profile sides starting charging more and more for replica kits. ‘Authentic’ third kits start at £120 for adults.

Whatever the fans think of the shirt, few will complain if they beat old rivals Rangers to win a fifth consecutive Scottish league championship next season – even if the way the players are dressed doesn’t meet with universal approval.
