The upcoming Premier League season promises to be a very entertaining one as the fight for European football appears to have been blown wide open. Chelsea willing to offer £77 million for major summer target

As the Blues look to bounce back from what was a torrid run in the Premier League last season, they are scouring the transfer market for new recruits. They’ve already dipped into the summer fund to sign Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson but they are far from done with their shopping list.

Brighton’s Moisés Caicedo remains a top target for Chelsea and following their 10-man exodus so far, it’s no wonder they are pushing hard to bring in new recruits. According to Fichajes, the club are willing to offer as high as €90 million (£77m) for the services of Caicedo as they try to convince their league rivals to part ways with the Ecuadorian.

Prior to his move to Brighton in 2021, the midfielder was described as a “terrific athlete” with “so much to offer.” Caicedo played in all but one of the Seagulls’ Premier League fixtures last season and he’s garnered a lot of interest from several clubs.

The 3AM verdict: Chelsea definitely need to pad out their midfield in time for the new season after a large portion of their players have now left the club. A total of six midfielders have departed either through a sale or by being released, including N’Golo Kanté. While there is no denying Caicedo has been a solid asset for Brighton and would be a good addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, the Blues only signed the £106 million Enzo Fernandez five months ago. In the flurry of the pressure to replace those who have left, it seems like Chelsea are throwing money wherever they can as fast as possible without weighing up other options and considering the bigger picture.

Liverpool considering Man United midfield target

Amid the talks of both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leaving the club for the Saudi Pro League this summer, Liverpool are back to where they were at the start of window before they’d even signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Henderson’s time on the pitch had been growing limited but Fabinho was a mainstay under Jurgen Klopp and it was expected that he would remain part of the starting lineup moving into next season. Now, replacements are being considered and according to The Athletic, the Reds want Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat.

The 3AM verdict: What was shaping up to be a real statement transfer window for the Reds has now taken a sharp and unexpected turn. With James Milner already gone, Klopp runs the very high risk of losing three senior midfielders who can operate and lead in the No.6 role. Liverpool must now prioritise a new defensive asset for the engine room and honestly, at this point, as long as someone is signed, it’s a step in the right direction away from this recent nightmare.

Man United face threat from Newcastle for defender

It’s tough out here for Man United right now, apparently. Not only do they have Liverpool monitoring Amrabat, but now Newcastle United are said to be ‘in the lead’ to sign another of their targets.

Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed that the Magpies are pushing to sign Axel Disasi from Monaco. In fact, ‘concrete talks’ have taken place regarding a deal for the centre-back and they are ongoing. Plettenberg has said that Newcastle are ‘in the lead at this stage’ and Monaco are now waiting for an offer.

The 3AM verdict: Man United could be snubbed of this move because they’ve been unable to find a suitor for Harry Maguire. For Newcastle though, this is welcome news after they failed to sign Tino Livramento from Southampton due to the asking price reportedly being too high. Disasi did not miss a single Ligue 1 match for Monaco last season and averaged 1.5 interceptions per 90 and a passing accuracy of 83.8 percent. He could certainly be a strong asset to a team looking to establish themselves as a fortress next season to keep their impressive run going.
