Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion both have the chance to bolster their ranks this month

Chelsea turned to Enzo Maresca as their manager last summer after he guided Leicester City to the Championship title. The former Manchester City coach has since worked well with their young players and has given them the freedom to express themselves at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have their sights set on returning to Europe this season. They have the chance to bring in some more new faces over the next couple of weeks with the January transfer window still open for business.

As for Brighton and Hove Albion, they also have the opportunity to bolster their ranks with reinforcements before the deadline on Monday 3rd February. The Seagulls have some key players as well who they will be desperate to keep hold of until the summer at least.

Why would Pervis Estupinan would suit Chelsea?

Chelsea and Brighton should look to explore a potential swap deal involving Pervis Estupinan and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this winter. Both players would suit playing for the alternative team ahead of the second-half of the campaign.

Estupinan, who is 27-years-old, would inject some experience into the Blues’ youthful ranks. He has been a proven performer at top flight level over the past few years and should test himself at a bigger club now before it is too late.

The Ecuador international could add competition for Marc Cucurella at left-back. There are big question marks over the long-term future of Ben Chilwell so he would be an ideal replacement for the former Leicester City man if he were to head out the exit door this month.

Estupinan has been on the books at the AMEX Stadium since 2022 and has made 90 appearances in all competitions, 22 of which have come this term. He has also had spells in the past at Watford, Real Mallorca, Granada and Villarreal and has adapted with ease to life in England.

Why Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall would be ideal for Brighton

Dewsbury-Hall played a key role in Leicester’s promotion from the second tier last year but it is safe to say that his switch to Chelsea hasn’t worked out. He has struggled for game time in London and faces serious competition to get into their team due to competition for places in his position.

A change of scene to Brighton, even just on a temporary basis in the interim period, would be beneficial for him and would boost his confidence. He risks his career stalling if he stays put with the Blues and the opportunities don’t come his way.

If the Seagulls managed to swoop in for him, he could give them something different in the middle of the park and inject some quality into their ranks. After joining his current club last summer, he said: “It is amazing to be sitting here as a Chelsea player. This is a club people grow up watching and hoping to one day play for, so it is a privilege to be here. I’m really excited to get going and can’t wait to show everybody what I can do.”
