The ideal last-minute alternative strikers Chelsea could chase as Victor Osimhen transfer saga rumbles on
Chelsea's interest in Victor Osimhen has never been a secret. The Blues are keen to sign him, but not necessarily on the terms Napoli value him at, particularly regarding his current wage demands. Several factors suggest a move could happen before the transfer window closes; however, what's still uncertain is whether Chelsea will make a compromise and find the funds to finalise the deal, especially now that they've signed João Félix and banked some money from the Conor Gallagher deal.
As of the time of writing, the move remains in the balance. Below are a few strikers Chelsea could, and indeed should, consider as alternatives, especially given how the last few weeks have dragged on:

Hide AdJonathan David (Lille)
David is one of the most promising young forwards in Europe. He has been prolific in Ligue 1, showcasing his clinical finishing and intelligent movement. David is versatile, capable of playing as a lone striker or in a two-man system, and would fit well into the project at Chelsea.
Marcus Thuram (Inter Milan)
Marcus Thuram played like he was in his own backyard during Inter’s pre-season friendly with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. He scored a brilliant goal, but it was his overall play impressed the most. He has strength combined with skill and football intelligence. Inter got him on a free transfer, but it’s clear he’s the kind of striker who would excel at Chelsea.
Callum Wilson (Newcastle United)
A left-field pick, sure, but Callum Wilson, but Chelsea could do a lot worse than the veteran striker. When fit, he’s such a menace to play against, and he knows how to score goals. He’s like a gunman in the penalty box but also has Premier League experience and is at the age where younger strikers could learn a thing or two from him.
Alexander Isak (Newcastle United)
This is highly unlikely given that he’s Newcastle’s prized asset, but what a signing he would be for Chelsea. He’s the ideal striker for the kind of football they want to play. Pep Guardiola once described him as a fabulous striker, and I can see why the Manchester City manager rates him so highly. Since Newcastle made him their record signing, he’s more than proven himself as a great goal scorer and a man for big occasions. He would bring so much excitement to Cobham and Stamford Bridge.

Again, another transfer that would be hard to pull off, but Watkins is such an underrated striker. He has an incredible ability to exploit space with his runs. He’s a massive part of the reason why Villa are playing in the Champions League this season. Also, at the Euros, he showed that he could make a difference at the highest level. Whenever he came on, the team looked incredibly dangerous. A proper number nine who knows how to find the back of the net and also knows how to play football.
