Football Manager 2024 predicts how the remainder of the summer transfer window could play out for Hull City.

It has been a difficult summer transfer window for Hull City as they lost two of their key players.

After missing out on the Championship play-offs last season, the Tigers were raided by two Premier League clubs as top flight newcomers Ipswich Town swooped to sign defender Jacob Greaves before Aston Villa invoked a clause in their sale of Jaden Philogene that saw the talented winger’s time at Hull limited to one season.

The likes of Greg Docherty, Billy Sharp, Ryan Allsop and Ozan Tufan have also left the club, meaning there is work to be done during the final month of the window.

New manager Tim Walter does have three new faces in the his squad after landing Luton Town left-back Ryan Giles, Leeds United right-back Cody Drameh and midfielder Marvin Mehlem - but what other business could the Tigers conduct over the next four weeks? We fire up Football Manager 2024 to assess how the world’s most popular managerial simulation predicts the remainder of the transfer window will play out.

Goalkeepers

There were no further exits in the Tigers goalkeeping ranks but there was a new addition as Walter landed former England Under-21 goalkeeper Etienne Green in a cut price move from French club Saint-Etienne. A lovely bit of business.

Walter’s goalkeeping options: Pandur, Lo-Tutala, Cartwright, Green

Defenders

There could well be a new look backline for Walter during the season after he made a triple defensive swoop. Top of the bill was a £4m move for Luton Town star Teden Mendi before the new Tigers head coach handed over £2m to sign Liverpool centre-back Rhys Williams. A third new arrival came in the form of Southampton defender Nico Lawrence, who joined on a season-long loan move that could become a permanent switch next summer.

Walter’s defensive options: Jones, McLoughlin, Smith, Giles, Fleming, Jacob, Drameh, Coyle, Mengi, Williams, Lawrence

Midfielders

There was a departure in the middle of the park as attacking midfielder Harry Vaughan made a £3m move to join Premier League newcomers Leicester City. Walter wasted little time in putting the money to good use by putting them into sizeable wage offers for free agents Jack Cork and Cheikhou Kouyate, who join the Tigers following their departures from Burnley and Crystal Palace.

The one departure at the top end of the pitch saw Oscar Estupinan head out on loan to Greek club AEK Athens. There were new arrivals as Millwall winger Aidomo Emakhu came in after a £2m agreement was struck between the two clubs and Dom Ballard was brought in after the Tigers agreed a £4m fee with Southampton. A loan deal was also agreed for Roma winger Joao Costa as the Brazilian youngster will spend the season with the Tigers - although there is no permanent option in the agreement.

Walter’s forward options: Sinik, Longman, Emakhu, Ballard, Costa.
