Fabrizio Romano drops major Man United transfer reveal as Arsenal and Liverpool compete for £40m warrior

Rounding up the biggest new Premier League transfer rumours, with news from Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Leeds and more.

It’s once again time for us to rummage through 24 hours’ worth of fresh Premier League transfer rumours and present the biggest and most intriguing in our daily round-up – and we’ll start off with a story for Manchester United fans.

Italian transfer fiend Fabrizio Romano reckons that the Red Devils have added Torino’s Vanja Milinković-Savić to their shortlist as they search for a new goalkeeper this summer – with “initial contacts” already taking place ahead of a formal bid.

Romano is still “waiting on [the] price tag” as, more pertinently, are the clubs, but a separate report from The Daily Mirror alleges that Milinković-Savić’s contract with Torino includes a €20m (£16.9m) release clause. With just one year left to run, perhaps a discount wouldn’t be out of the question.

The 28-year-old Serbian ‘keeper – younger brother of the more famous Sergej – was of course once on the books at Old Trafford, but had to be released in 2015 as the club couldn’t get a work permit for him. That shouldn’t be a problem now that he’s an established international, of course.

The 3AM Verdict: We suspect that James Trafford remains the first choice, but United expect competition from Newcastle for the aptly-named goalkeeper’s signature and Milinković-Savić would be a worthy back-up. He’s kept 11 clean sheets in Serie A so far for his mid-table team, with a towering 77.1% save percentage, higher than any Premier League goalkeeper this season.

Arsenal ‘desperately’ chasing £40m Liverpool target

Over to a tale from TBR Football now – they confidently assert that Ajax defender Jorrel Hato “is set” to move to the Premier League this summer, but it remains to be seen whether his destination is Liverpool or Arsenal. The Gunners “desperately want” to land the £40m-rated Dutchman, while Liverpool have had him “on their radar for months” and are working hard to secure his signature amid speculation over the future of Ibrahima Konaté.

Real Madrid could yet spoil the two Premier League sides’ scrap for Hato’s signature, while Chelsea seem to have registered some interest as well, but supposedly the 19-year-old prodigy has “set his sights” on playing in England. Apparently his ties to Jurriën Timber could sway the fight in Arsenal’s direction, too…

The 3AM Verdict: Still no word on formal approaches or actual negotiations, which really makes this an update to existing speculation over Hato’s future rather than anything new – and we don’t necessarily think a few chats with Timber means that a move to the Emirates is set in stone. The interest is real, but the clubs involved have bigger priorities in the transfer market so this may come down to which side finds £40m spare to spend.

Leeds United could miss out on key summer transfer target

Let’s round things off today with a rumour for fans of impending Premier League team Leeds United – although it’s bad news, we’re afraid, from French outlet Team Football who allege that Leeds may not get to sign key starter Manor Solomon permanently.

The on-loan Tottenham Hotspur winger scored the late winner against Plymouth Argyle which won Leeds the Championship title on the final day of the season, but it seems his performances have attracted interest from Marseille, who have “begun concrete discussions” over the Israeli.

Solomon “seduces” head coach Roberto de Zerbi, we’re told – a very French way of phrasing it, let’s be honest – and the Italian sees Solomon as a potential replacement for the likely outgoing Luis Henrique. Leeds “would like to keep” their loan star, of course, but now face competition for a player who is expected to cost up to £15m.

The 3AM Verdict: We suspect that Leeds have a fair shot here, depending on how much Solomon cares about staying in England, and they may well be able to offer better wages than Marseille – then again, playing on the French riviera will appeal to quite a few players. We’ll see how it goes, but Leeds won’t give up easily.
